Well, the lagging still persists. I kept trying to remember exactly when this all started. I remember I had to download an update for EA Download Manager because I wanted this new neighborhood from Sims Design Avenue. So, I did everything I was suppose to do. Once I remembered that, I uninstalled everything Sims 3 related. Including, the Download Manager. Now, the lagging has gotten to the point of, affecting a different EA Game. Mass Effect 2. So, something on my harddrive is affecting both games. They both lag something terrible.

Took my downloads folder out. Still lags. Updated my video drivers. Still lags. Took practically everything out of my Sims 2 folder. Still lags.

I'm just wondering if I just uninstalled my Sims 2 games and reinstalled them if that would work. That's about my only option.

By the way, does anybody know the exact path to where the games are that I got through the download manager?!!? It would be easier than redownloading them again. If, in fact, they actually are on my hard drive.

IronBeard, if you write protect the package files in your game directories under Program Files, you should never have to reinstall again.

Ed, I am so sorry to hear your prob is back.

You wouldn't have, by chance, made any CAS screens lately?

It probably has nothing to do with your problem.

My troubles started when I made a CAS screen for my medieval neighborhood.

You have my sympathy, dear friend.

Nope. Didn't make a CAS. I forgot how to........lol

I've been sitting here all night long trying to figure out what on God's Green Earth, do I have on my hard drive that could affect two different games from the same company?!!? None of my other games are affected. Just those two.

It's just plain weird....

EKozaki, try renaming your My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2 folder and let the game generate a new one.  If you can play in the new hood at the previous speed, it's something in your CC or hoods, and we can try to help you sort that out.

Read about it a few posts back.

I almost missed that comment. Can you be specific, as I run on a Mac and will have to determine what the equivalent action should be. Ta!

write protect = make read only

Basically, the operating system forbids the game from modifying files that it should never have to modify, like objects.package, etc.  Zirconia Wolf likes to write protect her custom content as well.

Wel, I've spent the last few days trying to get the game to work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled about three different times.

I've been on the phone with HP tech support for about two hours. And, nothing. It's like something sucked the life out of the computer. After about two minutes, the lagging starts, with and without Custom Content. So, I don't know where that leaves me......The game(s) is/are unplayable.

Oh well........It was fun.

On a side note, I copied down the physical memory numbers when the lagging started.

Physical Memory:
5887 total
3852 cached
3839 avaliable
29 free

CPU Usage 46%

I have 54 processes

HP won't let me take the computer back.

We still have a few more options left. Just can't do everything in one day. But, they think the problem lies with my video card. In the back of my mind, I kept thinking the same thing.

Let's just wait and see.......I'll keep you updated, Nonni Baaaaaay-Beeee!!
