I dl'd a house and installed it for my family. They wanted to buy a car so they needed a driveway. I cleared out the necessary space, ie, 7 squares from the right of the property to the left of the driveway and 10 spaces deep, but it still tells me I am out of bounds. Is this something with downloaded custom houses or something else.

It could be a couple of things. There are two driveway sections. One extends from the road (the tiles make an 'L' shape when you place it) and the other is a driveway extension. If you use the driveway extension it won't work. It won't work if you have the moveobjects cheat on as well, or if the house already has a garage. It's also possible the ground you're trying to place it on isn't level. It should auto level the ground for you, but I find sometimes it glitches and won't do it for me.

I tried all the things mentioned, but I cannot place the drive on the lot that I downloaded. The lot came furnished. I can place a drive on other lots. Does anyone know if the problem lies with the custom lots.

Hmm...I'm not sure why it wouldn't work then. If either your garbage can or mailbox are too close it won't let you place the lot. The only other remote possibility I can think of is if the house wasn't built with NL. I don't know if that would be it or not...at this point I'm just throwing the idea out there.

I'm pretty sure you need to be at least 1-2 squares in from the edge, so you might have to clear out a couple more lines of squares. Also make sure there's enough room for the other part of the L-shape that is on the road. I'm no expert on small lots, but if the car doesn't have enough turning space you might get troubles.

Also make sure the space is flat, and make sure there's no hidden object there. To do that, take any 1-tile object and swipe the area with it. If the placement grid goes red, there's either a hidden object there, or something else that hinders placement. You'll sometimes see it on big objects, in that some of the grid thingies are red instead of green when you try placing an object. That usually means there's some other object there.

If all else fails, try placing the driveway with Moveobjects. It might work then, and if it doesn't it was at least worth the try. Just don't try placing it with Snapobjects (that's when you'll get into trouble).

Thanks. I got it to work. I have to remove a lot of stuff to make room for it.
