So I have a MacBook Pro, and the Sims 3, and I'm finding all this great content. However, whenever I download content hosted on MediaFire or adfly, my computer can't read it. Is there some secret out there that simmers know to prevent this from happening? Or is this just how it is? So far the only source of content that works for me is TSR and the Store.

Also, I never really got much into content, and people are throwing around these terms like "you need this mod for this pose/skin/outfit/face" so I feel like a total n00b asking, but... Can someone explain to me what a mod is and what is with the poses? And how do you do the thing with the skin? Argh.

Sincerely, ultimately confused.

If the files you're downloading come as ".package" files instead of "sims3pack" files, they have to go to another location than "downloads", and need the framework to work.
Here's how: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files

Not sure how this works with a Mac, though.

You know how to open zip/rar files, right? That might be another problem.

Don't you just have to double-click them?

Oh wait! I figured everything out. Guess it was better to figure this out after I've gotten some sleep, not at 4 AM
