Hack to Remove Spectral Cat Auras

I recently started playing The Sims 2 again.  The auras around spectral cats - especially the stink-cloud effect around the evil witch cat - drives me nuts.  Is it possible to get rid of the auras?

I have all EPs/SPs (from discs).

i think the easiest way to to do it might be to make a replacement for the file where the textures are replaced with a blank/transparent one.
you'd need SimPE, an image editor that can do transparencies/alphas, and to figure out which item you need to clone to do so.
as far as existing hacks, i've never heard of one, but maybe someone out there had the same idea and made something that works.
