What benefit arises from making babies selectable? Is it just to be able to check their motives?

what I like about selectable babies, and maybe this was a glitch, but if there was a toddler on the lot, the baby got the toddler's skills. I did the "10 kids in 30 days" challange and by the time i got to baby #4, he'd maxed out his body points just from skill leching

I think seeing babies motives is great.  I forget and click all over their icon occassionally.  Now I will be able to see.  Thanks for sharing.

I love the selectable babies 'cause it makes it possible to open option for babies in almost all other modded objects. So, it is possible to change the babies' motives to make it sleep or wake up when you want and make him friends to his parents (Sims babies and parents have a start relation of 19/1 - why have a baby when you don't like it?)
