over at the mts2 community forums mildlydisguised posted about this handy little requirements test site

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

Quote
What it does
System Requirements Lab looks at your computer's hardware and system software to determine whether or not your current system can run a product. Each of your computer's components is evaluated to see how well it meets the minimum and recommended requirements for specific products. Recommendations are made on how to update or upgrade each component which does not meet the listed requirements. Sometimes it is a simple free software download and sometimes it is a link to a product such as the right video card.

my results (for Seasons) were:

 :smile bi:

I've been debating about updating my drivers but I'm not sure how the newer ones are and I usually go by "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"   :goofy:

Test didn't pick up on my SLI setup but then I really didn't expect it to. I know my system can run it but I did want to see what it would say.

I'm more concerned about what Seasons is going to ruin on my computer Wink

I am a bit disapointed with the test they ran. They say my graphics card will not run Pets or Seasons. I'm not sure what kind of information they are using but the ATI 200m chipset is basically an early mobile version of the x300 pcie card which is on the list at The Sims 2 site for both Pets and Seasons! It was sort of funny that they said "Sorry, Your system Failed!" But in the extended breakdown of the graphics test their check ran my card passed all of them. I guess it will be ok as a rough guide though. Smiley

Also bookmarked - passed on both, but it had doubts on my existing sound card. I have a new one in the post so I'll run it again when I get it.

Well, it did tell me the following, use your own judgment here:

You Have: 3.44 GHz Performance Rated at 5.16 GHz
I have a 3.2 GHz P4 Prescott, it is overclocked to 3.44. If I ran it up to 5.16 I think I could smoke it, even in this super-cooled case.

Yes I agree with you Sleepycat! I do a lot of reading on graphics cards and chipsets and such. Most people who play the sims 2 would probably think I am a most boring person! I like running these tests to learn. So it was still very worthwhile to me. As I posted originally I hope this will cut down on all the redundant posts about graphics. It looks like this thread may get a lot of replies! Thanks again for this link.
