I had this same problem but only when I used a custom CAS.  My poor sim kept freezing and collapsing over and over.

Weird, I didn't know about this thread or I would have posted about that...
A solution was quickly found when the issue arose, and you can build custom CAS that won't be affected by this Seasons bug, using Numenor's AnyGameStarter (formerly the BGS or Base Game Starter) to make your CAS in any version prior to Seasons. The only downside is that you won't be able to use CC that requires Seasons.

Oof.  I'm so glad I don't have Seasons.

Although, I'll be honest- if a sim were to actually die in the CAS mode due to the cold winter season, that would be pretty funny.  I'd also be very unlikely as well.

I don't have a cas screen custom in my game, I have Nightlife, Open For Business and Univ.
the only problem I have is hair showing up as nude sim icons, that sucks

^^ Hey, Geezy, that's a result of clothing created with the pre-patched "Pests" Bodyshop.  The only ways you'd be able to fix it is if you either get an EP that's Pets or higher, or if you go through SimPE and fix all of the broken files manually.  You can find a tutorial by Marvine on how to fix it here.

(It's an absolute pain to do, trust me.  I spent a lot of nights trying to fix all of the messed up clothes and hair I had in my downloads folder, and I NEVER got through them all because I installed Seasons before I finished.  )
