I am definintely screwed.

I was playing Seasons, yay! And closed it, thinking things were fine.

Then, next time I opened it, I get a message like 'Some needed files were corrupt during installation. Please reinstall this program.' or something like that.

I looked in the 'Add or Remove Programs' thing, and it wasn't even in the list of program! So I check my EA folder, and it is still there, so I open the folder and choose 'Uninstall The Sims 2 Seasons', and nothing happens. Nothing ever happens, nothing opens, not even an error message.

Can you help? :sad4:

Frog_man - you have suffered the notorious false install!

The false install occurs as a result of the completely worthless, unreliable, junk updater on the CDs and DVDs.  What happens is the updater doesn't terminate properly and the final (and all important) final steps of installation screw up.

You might actually play the EP you just installed, but more than likely it won't run and may even uninstall one or more other EPs.

The only thing I know that works is this:

repeat the install over and over until it works.

OR

Un-install everything and start over doing things this way:

Download all the update patches from http://thesims2.ea.com/update/

turn off your anti-virus software

Now install the game and EPs/SPs in this order for the best results:
  • Base Game: The Sims 2 (any version)
  • Patch: The Sims 2 with the download patch
  • Expansion Pack: University
  • Patch: University with the download patch
  • Expansion Pack: Nightlife
  • Patch: Nightlife with the download patch
  • Expansion Pack: Open For Business
  • Patch: Open For Business with the download patch
  • Stuff Pack: Family Fun Stuff
  • Patch: Family Fun with the download patch
  • Stuff Pack: Glamour Life Stuff
  • Expansion Pack: Pets
  • Patch: Pets with the download patch
  • Stuff Pack: Happy Holiday Stuff 2006
  • Expansion Pack: Seasons

The updater on the CDs/DVDs sucks and often screws up.  So use the downloaded updates ONLY!

So what should I say when it says, 'The ... will now check if your game is up to date.'

Just cancel and it will work? So uninstall EVERYTHING?

Man, this isn't my week.

Can i put my downloads on my desktop, and t will work again?

Thank you.

PS How do uninstall Seasons? It doesn't do anything. Is it when I uninstall my base game, that goes way too?

ok - 1st just run the updaters you download from Maxis

then reboot the system

then disable your anti-virun

then eject and put back in the Seasons CD

this should restart the auto-installer

What updates are you talking about? Patches? Something else on the official site?

Also, when you say REBOOT, you mean the WHOLE reboot, like lose everything, etc. or just restart my computer?

I've heard it in both ways, lol

EDIT: I have read your post like 5 times, and I don't understand.

Do I uninstall my games, then install then download updater (Which I cannot find, if you mean something for Seasons, or a patch, etc.)

Or install updater, THEN uninstall?

Man, I wanna play my game!

I have found the solution. I uninstalled using that manual installation thing, and installed. It works now, thanks!
