When I try to register it says "This version of the sims life stories cannot be registered"

Squinge, i don't have the game but is it worth getting it? Is it fun and different then the sims 2 and worth the money?

the register function of the game is totally warbled, at least in my version.  I have an open trouble ticket with EA Help on the matter that is unresolved after 60 days.
