Everytime I try to look for a job my sim's will be looking and a chair will appear above their had and they will stand up and throw some kind of fit and sit down and look again but then there will be a message that says there are no jobs available for today.
Is this normal?
It's been doing it for around 5 sim days.

Does it happen with newspaper too? I assume by the chair that they look for a job in the computer.

What's the last EP you installed?
What hacks do you have that modify jobs or job searching? Like harderjobs, etc.

Custom careers are evil IMO.

Looks like it`s a hack conflict. Get and run the hack conflict utility, it can be found on this site http://www.simwardrobe.com
Go to sims2/programs and get Sims 2 Hack Conflict Detection Utility

It`ll show you a list of possible conflicts, so you know what to remove Smiley

Definitely take a look at that custom career.  If it hadn't been updated for Seasons, which introduced new careers, it may very well be your problem.

Remove the custom career and try if it solved the problem.

Whenever I have a really weird problem, I deleted that package files at our under my documents/ea games/the sims 2.  The packages files are accessories.package, cigen. package, cache.package and group.package.

Well, you could try deleting the groups.cache, it won`t ruin your game, as the game recreates it the next time you load it.

I delete it from time to time, just in case.

I don`t know what more you can do... removing latest downloads? reinstalling the game? removing all Downloads? looking for the bad egg using the 50/50 method?
