To begin with I am not all that Savy about computer binary codes or computer languages. I am running Sims2 with EP's up to OFB and SP's Family fun Stuff and Glamous Life.
On the Musical instruments. I can get the Sims to practice. But when I click on the perform all the Sims just looks around like they do not have a clue. It use to work really well with night Life. But for Open for Business they can't play in the perform. Thanks for your time..
I do have the Updates to all of these.

Don't they have to be at a certain skill level to perform? I don't even have the foggiest idea about this. I'm sorry, but it will be interesting to see how this is solved. I don't have my sims perform and try to avoid them playing that piano whenever possible. I hate hearing the same music over and over. It was nice when I first got the sims, but now I turn the volume off when their playing that thing.

Yes they have to have the skills to a certain level. I maxed out their skills. If I do not click on the OFB icon. I can get them to play at the performance. But once I click the OFB icon in the game. They will practice, but will not perform. I don't really like to hear the same music over either. But like to do something different each day. I was wondering if maxis put a flag on this for the OFB pack.

Interesting that the previous two posts say a certain level of skill is needed.  I just put a sim into game, bought the guitar.  No skills in any area.  He walks to the guitar, puts down his tip bag, and starts performing rock.

From past experience, children of any skill cannot perform.  I've always had teens and older perform no matter what the skill.

All EPs except Pets.  All SPs.  No holiday pack though.

My game is the same as Ancient's. I have all eps and sps. So long as there's an instrument present, any sim from teen to elder can put down that tip jar and perform, no matter what their skill. It doesn't mean they'll get any money, though. If  they're terrible, they'll just get boos and hisses. lol.

Do you have one of these mods?

Some of them disable the perform option.

Here's one of them.

There were two others that were locked, so I think they were previous versions.

They're Squinge's mods that remove autonomous musical instrument playing. I think at least one of them removed the perform option from the menu, but I have no idea which one.

I did not download any of these mods for the musical instrument playing. When I first got the open for business game pack and the other stuff packs it started not letting the Sims perform. I can get them to do the practice but that is all.Huh?Huh?Huh??? I uninstalled and reinstalled the game so many times thinking this would help. Even took download folder out with the Custom contents that I have. But, I get the same thing. I tried contacting EA games. I get no help there.  I guess I'll just play it like it is. Thanks for all the input.. Plus the time you Folks took to help...

Have you downloaded and installed the patches for the expansion packs you installed?

I'm confused about this post.  Are you saying that when you are in the game you click on an OFB icon?  Where is that?

Or are you saying when you start the game with the OFB icon on the desktop it doesn't start, but when you start the game with the NL icon it does?  (This only works if you are using BaseGame Starter for those who don't know.)

Ok. I do have all the patches installed that EA put out up to Family fun Stuff. When I first run the game. I click the icon up in the left hand corner of the game. Where the University and the Night life and OFB are. Everthing works fine. Until I start the OFB. Once I click that everthing but the musical instruments work great. I can get them to practice but the Sims will not perform.

So when you say start OFB, you mean go to Bluewater Village Shopping District?  The neighborhood with the Tinkers, Rameriz, Landgrab, and all the shops?

This is sounding like you have your main neighborhood, and you've added a University, Downtown, and Shopping District.  Your sims in all of those neighborhoods can perform music except for those in the Shopping District.  Is that correct?

Let's try a couple things if that is correct....
1.  In the Shopping District where you are not able to perform, open up the cheat window (Ctrl-Shift-C) and type boolprop testingcheatsenabled true.  Then enter one of the lots where you cannot perform on the instruments.  Then press Shift and click on the instrument.  You'll get an option to Force Error.  Click it.  A dialog box will pop up stating there's been an object error in the game and give you 3 options.  Click Reset.  The box also says a file was created.  Write down that name and location.

Then have one of your sims try to perform on the instrument.  You may get another object error dialog.  If you do, do the same thing, take note of the file and click Reset.  Hopefully, the sim will be able to perform though.

If the sim cannot perform, you now have two files the game wrote.  Hold on to those for a few minutes.  Now with the instrument that you forced the error on, and still can't perform, sell it.  Buy a new one.  Try to perform again.  If you get an object error, take note of that file too and click Reset.

If at any time during this your sims can perform again on that lot, do the same thing on the other lots they can't perform, and you can forget about those Object Error files.  If they still can't perform in that lot, attach those files to a post here.

ancienthighway;
I tried your suggestion. It does the same thing. The Diamond over the Sims head goes out. Then comes back. As far as just the Shopping District. I am getting this in the whole game. No matter what neighborhood that I am playing. Here are the logs

What I have been doing is uninstalling and the reinstalling the game All EP and SP that I have. (With patches). I Start all the neighborhoods except the shopping. Everthing works great. But When I click on the button for the Shopping district. This happens with the whole game. No matter what lot I am at.
Oh well.. Everything else works great.
It is just misical instruments with all lots and Sims. Thanks for your help. Plus your time.
