And the 'sama' thing, explanation:

'Sama' is a japanese honorific used to show great respect. You can attach it it to last names and first names. So to show respect to him I say 'Way (which is his last name, no?) - Sama' or I could say 'Gerard-Sama' either one.

And the term for 'san' is like so:

It's usally translated into English as "Mr.", "Ms.", or "Mrs." but it's used much more often in Japanese than those titles are in English.
