Alright, here's the newest deal.
I was going on vacation but participating in a contest.  So I copied all my downloads and the neighborhoods folder onto the laptop.

The only difference between the laptop and main computer is that the main one has Nightlife and the Laptop doesn't.  Both have base and university.

Whenever I try to get into a house on the laptop in that neighborhood in the main area (not downtown) the game loads a little bit, stops, then the game shuts down.

Is it just as simple as the entire neighborhood can't function without all the expansion packs or is something missing?

You've probably got some downloads that require NL, and they crash the game. Have you tried loading the hood without any downloads?

I would just install NL and then poof, problems gone Smiley

It's not so much the downloads as Mi-chii suggests, but there's a change from the base game lot files in all the lot files beginning with NL.  So lots created with NL require NL or better to run, no going back to base game with it.

Installing NL is right on the money as far as the solution.
