How do I delete mods without losing game data or sims?

I really don't want to have to reload.  A mod is making my game all whack and keeps giving me the option of cancel , delete or reset.  before I even get into a lot (with sims)

tried to run Hack confliction but it errored!  any other suggestions?  I have 2.9G (30682 files) of cc I really don't want to have to test it all!

Game data is not in the downloads folder.

If you think you have mods or hacks you don't know about, run clean installer: http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/

Files that come up red are hacks. If you have for example hacks in your game that are not updated for your current EP, you might run into those problems. Because of this it is reasonable to have a subfolder in your downloads for hacks. The ones you download deliberately. But know that you may inadvertently became infected with hacks through houses (don't download from the Exchange!).

Okay, back to the hacks. You can try at first to move the whole download folder and test, if you still got the problem. If not, it's a download, probably a hack. Then you can delete (or move) the red files with clean installer. While you're at it: the pink files are duplicates, you might wanna delete them, too (you can sort the files by number, if you click on the column where it says 'MD5').

Hack detection tool requires you to install Virtual basic, there is a link to it on the thread you got the tool from, did you install that?

Also, you need to extract all the files that was included in the download for it to work.

If you have any package files that have any non-latin based characters in their names (i.e.  Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc.), the Hack Conflict Detection Utility will give you an error while trying to read them.  Check to see if any of your files in the Downloads folder have those.  Wink

In the pic you are showing, it is giving a path to were the error report was put.

Please attach that report to your next reply, maybe someone can figure out what is wrong.

Also, did you manage to make the Hack dectection tool work?  If you have Vista, check this post so you can make that tool work:  http://s3.freepowerboards.com/simwardrobe/viewtopic.php?p=53

In the meantime, make sure all the mods you have are still compatible with the latest ep you have install and that they are the right version for the ep you have install.

I'm guessing that jump bug is happening with TwoJeffs' Smart Bed Beta mod and another hack.  Do you have any other mods that affect how your sims use the beds?

:dontknow:  Like I said, it's just a guess, and I was reading some things in the thread over at the beta testing forum.  (have to be registered to view it though.)  Since it was one of the first things that jumped out at me when looking at the log... anyone else can feel free to correct me if it's not the issue.
