Sorry if this has already been answered, but I couldn't find anything to help in my search.

The other day I installed the Teen Style Stuff pack, the first time it was installing my computer crashed and I had to restart it. When it had restarted I checked the program files for the Teen Style pack and they were there, but I thought it might not have finished installing, so I deleted all the files there and unistalled the pack (I had made a backup of my game before trying to install it). I tried installing it again, and it installed all the way up to installing the patch for the seasons ep, when it got to this it said there was an error and I may need to uninstall and then reinstall Seasons, then it uninstalled the Teen Style Stuff. I tried again, but it still wouldn't work, so I uninstalled and then reinstalled Seasons. It seemed to work fine, so I entered the game, but at lot of my items were missing (and doing the flashing blue thing). I exited the game and as I had made a back up earlier I renamed this 'The Sims 2' hoping the game would now read that folder instead. So I started up the game again and this time even more of my custom content was missing (hair, eyes etc). In the end I had to system restore the computer back to Friday before I tried installing Teen Style Stuff, everything in the game seems to be working ok now, other than the ground.

When I loaded a neighbourhood, the ground (which was covered in snow) was covered in writing. I entered a lot to see if the problem would be the same there. The grass which was supposed to be covered in snow was black with writing all over it and the pavement was white with writing all over it. It goes back to normal when I enter buy mode. I don't know if it does it when there's not snow as I have not entered a lot where it wasn't winter.

Does anyone know why it's doing this or how I can fix it?

It was suggested to me that the problem could be that the game couldn't find the texture for snow so replaced it with words. I was told to change the season to summer and then back to winter, but this is what I get when I click on the seasons changer:

I've also been told it may be a good idea to uninstall and reinstall the game, but I'm wondering if I'd have to uninstall all of the games? (as I have all the eps). I also have a lot of custom content and sims (which I'm not quite sure how to extract). Is there any way I could fix this problem without having to reinstall?

Thanks for any help.

It seems like a package file for the game got corrupted during the installation.  I know that there's a way to restore those files without doing a complete re-install, but I'm not sure if this is an "objects.package" related problem or something related to the "3D" folders in the C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 2 (name of EP)\TSData\Res directory.  It's possible that you can replace those particular files related to Seasons using this tutorial.

(I had a similar instance where the textures for my Sims got badly corrupted... unfortunately I was unlucky and had to do a full re-install starting from the base game.  Hopefully if the tutorial helps, you won't have to worry about that big pain I had to go through.  Wink )

Thanks for the help.
I went through the program files last night and reaslied that some of the folders under Seasons were empty. So I uninstalled and reinstalled Seasons and everything appears to be working fine now.
