Looking around for a tutorial on this but I can't find any.
I've only found tutorials replacing default replacement skintones and eyes but nothing about clothes.

I'm wanting to replace the original maid and cheerleader outfits but don't know where to start.

I know Warlokk has made a replacement maid outfit.

Can anyone tell me how to do this or link me to a tutorial?

Thanks.

Well, you only need 2 things.
The mesh(the gmdc) and a fixed texture file(txtr)

Normally you first clone a outfit with bodyshop and open it with Simpe and look how the file names are called but since you want the maid you have to go in debug mode in CAS and look how the files from the maid are called.

Ill save you some searching(you prolly know already Smiley)
It called afbodydressmaid

So you start the finder in Simpe and search for ''afbodydressmaid''
You will see Simpe will find all the files related to that outfit.
You will need the Gmdc called afBodyDressMaid_tslocator_gmdc
double click it in the finder list and then right click in the resource list and extract the file.
And you need the txtr file called afbodydressmaid-whitelace_txtr
again double click and right click in the resource window and extract.
But that txtr file is also linked to the lifo files and so you will need that one too, to update you txtr file(the way i do it)
Its called afbodydressmaid-whitelace0_lifo again double click/right click and extract.
We now have the 3 files we need.
In simpe start New file and import the 3 files you extracted earlier and save your package something like Default replacement Maid mesh orso.
Try to use the key words replacement or default so you be able to find it back if you have a lrge downloadfolder.
I work with a Defaults folder in my sims2 directory, were i have all my default replacements installed, ez to organize.

Ok, we now have the new package but we have to fix the txtr file first.
You can do it later but i am going to explain it now.
Click on the lifo file in your resource window and then right click on the texturefile that pops up in the bottom window.
Choose Export.
This is going to be your texture that you will edit/change for your new outfit.
Its in png format.

The moment you exported your texture file from the lifo file you can delete it from your package, right click on it and delete it!

Now click on the txtr file and delete both the links to the lifo files in the bottom window, click on them and delete.
Then change the # of mipmap levels from 9 to 11 and choose build default mipmap.
In the little popup box enter the largest file, 1024x1024 and click ok.
You now should have 11 files just like in the screenshot i attached.
But since you rebuild them all 11 there all empty, you now can rebuild all 11 with your exported png file from the earlier extracted lifo file.

choose the 1024x1024 file and then right click on the image file in the right window, exactly the same as with the lifo file earlier.
Choose import or choose build dxt if you have nvidia DDS utilities installed.(If you want to use DDS:Tutorial: Making Pixel-Perfect Skintones
Surf to your exported(lifo)texture file and import it in the txtr file.

When you have done it all correct it looks like the screenshot i included.
11 files starting from 1024x1024 till 1x1 all with the correct image.

This is all you need to do.
You can export the gmdc to edit it with Milkshape and you can edit the png you exported  and import it back in the txtr file like i explained.
I included the file if it doesn't work out like you wished.......

Few things you need to know:
The maid outfit has 3 seperate meshgroups, body/body alpha3 and body alpha5
Keep those names and map all parts so they will fit on one uvmap.(as you only have one texturefile.)
You can use more meshgroups and texturefiles but you have to edit your shape file then and will need to include alot more files.(like every material setting(txmt)
I have done this on the mail delivery, but its complicated if you just started with this.
Try this first. Wink

Thankyou for spending your time to write the thorough tutorial.
See what happens when I do this later.
I'll update this Thread.

I'll be using a mesh with a body alpha so I guess I'll just have to replace body_aplha3 in milkshape with the body_alpha.

As well as the material base and alpha by adding 3 to the end.

BTW just checked out you female mailman.
Lol hope she doesn't have to walk too far.

uh, there are no material definations needed with a default replacement, unless you change the shape file.(like adding more mat. definations for other meshgroups)
you need to change your body_alpha to body_alpha5 and if there are inside textures you name those body_alpha3.
But dont forget, it all has to fit one bmp(uvmap)

Managed to replicate the default maid outfit.

Now I'm going to do the same the the young female cheerleader outfit but I can't find the parts.

There is yfbodycheerleader GZPS and thats it.
No GDMC, TXTR or lifo.

Does anyone know where they are located?

Have you tried this yet?

1. Make a new project in bodyshop & import it into the game
2. Open SimPE & create a new file
3. Go to the tools menu > PJSE > Bodyshop Plugin > Extracting stage
4. Click on the browse button, find the file you made in bodyshop, click on it & click ok.

I find this method much easier than having to browse through all the sims.package files because it gives you all the files for the mesh in one easy step. I hope this helps you since you've helped me so much.

First of all there is no cheerleader outfit in my bodyshop for me to export to  find texture package to as it's a hidden oufit.

But thanks for trying to help.

was there ever a adult cheerleader then, i only know of the teen.
You can convert the teen to adult, just a matter of scaling and fix the neck and shoulder/arms(and if you a perfectionist the upperthighs Wink)
The teen file is tfbodycheerleader

Edit:
Heres your adult cheerleader Wink
Fixed neck/shoulders and breasts
You can use the textures from the teen Smiley

When your sim goes to uni, there are some yf Cheerleaders which come to you dorm and start cheering.

I'm wanting to change the outfit on them.

I'll give the file you set me a try.
