Like they're "flashing"? I have that happen whenever I overload my neighborhood screen with too many buildings at once.  They turn all red, white, black, and other strange shades when my laptop can't handle rendering them all at once, and if I'm lucky I'll get a blue hourglass screen.  If I'm not, the game just crashes.  So I usually stick with maybe two or three houses in a neighborhood now.

How many lots do you have in your neighborhood?  What are your computer specs? (i.e. type of graphics card, amount of RAM/memory,)  And have you tried updating your graphics card drivers, along with your DirectX files? Sometimes updating those two things will help fix a "red flashing" issue.  And the more info you can give us about your graphics and RAM, the better we can help.  :smile bi:

I recently downloaded spookymuffins hack for other lightning in my neighborhoods.(like daylight/night dawn etc..)
Unfortunate that hack wasn't updated for BV and FreeTime.
So maybe you have a hack installed thats causing this.

Or just not enough memory for all the EPs to run properly. Mine did that until I upgraded my comp.

I had flashing houses.  Now I get a light blue screen and music playing in the background.  I have 512 MB... do I have to update that.  Everything works when I take out the download folder...If I remove some houses...how do I do that without starting up the sims game?  Would removing house work?

That's actually your Disk Space.  Wink

Go to the Start button and type in dxdiag in the "Open" box, then click OK.  Once the DirectX Diagnostics Too window pops up, look down in the "System Information" box (...mainly where it says "Memory", but everything from "Processor" down is good to know also).

Also, after taking note of the above, click on the "Display" tab up top and look at the upper left-hand box named "Device".  This contains your video card information.

That's all the main info we need to know.

I fear the problem came from the "graphic card", VIA/S3G unichrome. Forums says that it's not a real card and it's not good to play games especially 3D ones. If you can, try to change it. Your computer is a notebook no ? I can't recommend a special card sorry. Smiley

Neokore, you have the minimum requirements to play the game.

A 64mb videocard is not enough to play the sims with expansion packs, you must get a new one.  Same for your RAM, you should add another 500mb to help.
