tutorial- uvmap, what is it & why do i want it?

They have been asking me to post. So now the Empress of the Lurkers has,  and I have to thank you for this tutorial.  I've only played the sims until recently when I discovered the pleasures of body shop.  But it's always been a mystery to me what a uvmap was and what you did with it.  Now with this very simple, well explained tut I wouldn't be afraid to try my hand at this.  (Whispering) Now I can stop pestering the only person I had to ask questions of. lol

Million thanks, gothplague i always want to know how to use a uvmap. When i don't know i have no confidence to making recolor cloths so i made it by estimate the result is my recolor is not good it's made me bored.
This is great tutorial.
