Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to alter a mesh that does not come with the game.(EX: the Bodybuilder Mesh) If you can, how is that done? Thanx!

you download the mesh and open it with Simpe
Extract the gmdc and edit it with milkshape.

Build a new outfit and mesh package based on the game files and load your edited bb mesh into the mesh package with Simpe.

You need to clone(make a recolor) a similar maxis outfit as the outfit the bodybuilder is wearing.
Then you make a new meshpackage of those files and link them to your recolor(Cres and shpe)
In that new meshpackage you can place your edited bb mesh.

This is simply said but you do know how to build new outfits with a meshpackage attached?
If not then visit mts2 for the tutorials.......

I'm talking about cloning a mesh and altering it, not cc outfits with meshfiles attatched. By the way, I can't do the tutorials on MTS2 because they mesh differently then the way I do and its a bit confusing, I learned from this :http://personal-computer-tutor.com/sims2/suzysclothingtut.htm Is this tutorial ok, or is it wrong? Also they way they do it on MTS2 doesn't work on my SimPE.

That tut is perfect for the job.
the first one explains how to start, make a new outfit and meshpackage.
When done you only have to replace the gmdc in the mesh package with the edited bb.

Thanks for all your help BlooM, but I figured it out myself, I built a new package using the same mesh, cloned the GMDC from the original, extracted it, edited it and replace the GMDC in my new one and it works great!

I had the same question yesterday (I was altering a devil BB mesh from beos) I couldn't find the gmdc, shpe and other files right... of course it seemed strange to me that I should look in the sims06.package instead of the REAL mesh package.

As Bloom suggested I opened the mesh file (fortunately I remembered where I put it) and voila!! the 4 files ready to extract and finally I could modify it via Milkshape/unimesh.

Thanks Angel_2365 for asking, and, of course, BlooM for the answer!! Now, I finally have my first devil underwear!! when I finish the other parts of my project I'll upload them here.

Again, thanks from a very beginner body mesher (or wanna-be body mesher :rabbit: ).

Uhm Raf, thats far from the correct way.
The way you described is editing a excisting mesh.
If your are going to use those files you are going to mess up the originals.

-The correct way is to make a maxis recolor of a base game outfit
-Open Simpe and start a new package.
-Click Tools/PJSE/body mesh tool and extracting stage
-Browse to your recolor(in your saved simfolder)and open it.
-Now simpe will generate the necesarry files and those are going to be your new mesh package.
-click tools/object tools and fix the intigrity(name it like you want and click the update button.
-Save it as your new mesh

That is how you make a new mesh.......

The next step is to link that mesh to your recolor by either extracting the cres and shape files or by using the PJSE linking stage.

Then you can extract the gmdc and replace it with watever you want.

when you open a excisting mesh you see 4 files.
The shape/Cres/GMND and the GMDC
Right click the gmdc.....
If you can not see wat is wat you have to move the tab's a little Wink
