Recently I had some very serious computer problems (resolved now) and lost almost everything, including The Sims 2 base game and my Nightlife expansion pack. Rather than buying them separately (for a second time), I bought The Sims 2 Deluxe.

Not having any problems, but I would like to know if downloading custom content has to be done differently, because I hadn't found a downloads folder to put any downloads in.

You need to create the Downloads folder, either manually through Windows Explorer, starting up Bodyshop, or from within the game, downloading something from the TS2 website.

I did as you said and downloaded something from TS2 website. I started up my game and the car I had downloaded appeared in the game.

However, there was still no downloads folder created. It was just placed in my "The Sims 2 Deluxe" folder. And I downloaded the insimenator after seeing that the car appeared, but I can't use it.

Help?

Go inside your Sims 2 folder and create a new folder.

Once created, rename it, Downloads

And, type it exactly like I showed you.

Still no luck.

I've always had a problem with some the downloaded custom content not showing up in the game, but the insimenator and the inteen. always worked.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Getting very frustrated now.

I've done everything I can think of, and it still isn't working.
And since my exposure to both the insim. and inteen., I really don't want to play without either.

Make sure the Downloads folder and all of the goodies you download is in My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 rather than Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 2.

Thanks.
I feel like I should have known to do that.
But seriously, thank you.

I was about to go insane.
