Problems in sims2 or nightlife after patching?

Has anyone had problems with sims2 or nightlife after patching that are the result of the patch installation. I have heard about the blocking of custom content after installing the combo patch.

You have to enable Custom Content
before
you play the game, exit, reboot, then start the game up.
I've always rebooted after I install each disc and patch.
