I'm in need of a break from Pleasantview, so I've been thinking about making my own neighborhood. What I'm wondering is... how do you guys come up with names for your custom neighborhoods?

I have an algorithmic program that I run across three different computers that spits out the names for me. I either use that or ..... I just make one up.

I use the Random Name Generated provided by the phone company. Yep, that's right. Close my eyes, open the phone book and stab my finger down onto a name. Choose either the first or last name, add "town" or "ville" or "view" to it and voila, there's the new name for my new 'hood! Works for naming those pesky sims, too. Grin

I do a Bill O'Reily. And by that, I mean f*** it, I'll do it live.

And by that, I just throw something out there.

I currently use "South Africa" as my hood's name since that's where my woman lives.

Other than that, If I change the name, I just randomly think of something that's somewhat interesting.

Hehe, I can imagine you ending up with hoods called Bognor Regis or Peckham! I use these:

Sometimes I use the names of the templates.  Crystal Springs was the name of one of my fave n-hoods, before the crash...  Then I recreated one of the sims in a new neighborhood, New Crystal!

I also have one called Emerald Arch.  I got this using the letters EA and trying to make a neighborhood name out of that (I never intended to make a neighborhood with it, but I liked the name so...).  You could easily make a bunch of neighborhood names just by taking two letters!  Your initials, maybe?  For instancs, Rocky Cove for R and C, or Anchor Falls for A and F.
