Okay, so I love the idea of a secret door, and I do have the bookcase, but I can't figure out how to make it into a secret door. do I just put it against the wall and it's supposed to be a secret door? Or is there something else I'm supposed to do?

There's two similar looking bookcases that came with AL.  You want the Very Mysterious Shelving, not the Mysterious Looking Bookcase.

I played a lot with one built you make a room and put the bookshelf at the opening when they read the special book, it will let them into that room.
