I was just wondering which version of suckurom AL had.  I understand that another version with the 5 install max is coming out with Spore and Sims 3, but does AL have the same one as BV and FT?

The reason I ask is that I had no idea of Securom's existence until after I had BV installed for ages (one of the few who's computer continued normally it seems) and my husband knowing my Sims addiction surprised me with a copy of AL.  If old Securom, I'll risk installing.  If new, I'll probably stick it on a shelf and let it collect dust.  Good thing my hubby won't be able to tell that I'm not playing the expansion or not. Bleah... So, AL has the same one that Spore is supposed to?

*sigh*

Thanks for the answer.

Even if you had an older version, it would update to the latest one.

That's my understanding.

How do you get rid of it?  Is it the same way as before?  I found some instructions somewhere but was waiting for AL before removing it.

Okay, now I'm confused.  Even without installing say Spore, just with FT or the like, it probably ninja updated Securom through something like that damn start up 'window'?

Just clarifying.  I'm not the computer type in our little family. Tongue

Go to bed, Eddie! Wink

From what I heard it is NOT the same version of SecuROM that only allows three installs. Can someone confirm this please?

I was re-reading the article. It seems like it's not.

Spore and Mass Effect have the three limit install.

It's  not the version that will be on Spore, but it is a harsher version than the ones before it. Check out the PRISM and Reclaim Your Game, they have removal instructions as well, and MATY has some, too. Too bad they had to ruin a perfectly good game with this crap.
