What is a new years party?

Hi. I have heard that you can have a new years party, but the option is never on the party list on the phone. A friend says you can only throw one in winter, is that true?? Also what makes it different than other parties? Oh yeah and is a sports party any different than a house party? I threw one and nobody even watched the game, it was no different??

I believe that comes with the Holidays SP. New Years Eve, Christmas, etc...

It's true- the New Year's party does come with Holidays. It's just a normal party, except at midnight, everybody cheers with noisemakers like it's a birthday party and then Baby New Year shows up.
