Is there any way to make the transitioning of pets a little less traumatic. My pets are loved members of the family and when the Grim Reaper comes I'd like him to be turned into a beautiful angel, or at least have a few hula girls there to welcome them into the afterlife.

I would hardly call watching your pets die in this game traumatic. If anything, it's kind of amusing watching Grimmy chuck a bone up towards doggy heaven, and Fido zipping after it.
...anyways, to get back on topic, this isn't possible at the moment. Sorry.
