I just installed sims 1 game and is thinking of backing it up, so I don't have to reinstall it when I wanted to play fresh from the start again

but which folder should I copy? Is it the user data?

Thx

Copy the "Sims 1" folder. I would add it to a zip to reduce file space.

UserData and GameData are in there, too
