Eh, if you have Nightlife or a newer EP, just use the 'familyfunds' cheat to give your Sims any amount of money they want/need. So in your situation:
1.) Create your Sims
2.) In the Neighborhood view, pull up the cheat box and type in 'familyfunds familyname
+xxxx' where familyname is the last name of your Sim family, and 'xxxx' is the amount of simoleans you want added to their income. You can also use '
-xxxx' to subtract money as well.
3.) Move them into whatever house you want now.
Example:
familyfunds Broke +25000 would add 25,000 Simoleans the Broke household. What Brandi would spend that on, who knows.
This cheat also works while playing in Live mode.
