Okay, I have all the xpansions packs on my game (save BV and OFB), and I'm having a problem. My adult cats all eat fine, and I haven't tested my dogs yet. However, if I have a kitten, the thing will not eat until it's nearly starving. Of course, then I get that "You need to take better care of your animals" message.  Any one else have or had this problem? And how do you fix it? (I do have InSim, but that's the only hack I have).

Strictly a guess, but some Pets have a natural inclination towards people food.

Did you try putting a plate of people food on the floor where the kitten can get to it? If the pet goes for it, then it must be trained not to eat people food, and praised and cuddled for eating pet food.

Couple of other things to try are:

Make sure the pet food bowl is full and kept full
Try a different bowl instead, also making sure it is completely full
Move the pet food bowl away from walls or other objects, so that it is completely accessible from all sides
Click on the refrigerator and see if there is an alternative pet feeding option related to the kitten
