Look at threads by date created

Sorry if I'm lame, but I haven't found a way (through preferences) to look at threads by the date they were started.  I honestly have very little use to look at threads by the latest post made to it, mainly because I end up reading old threads all over again simply because someone that hadn't seen it made a comment.  Is there such an option?  Thank you anybody.

Go to the first post in the thread and figure it out from there. I'm not sure if such an option exists in the forum software we're using and if it does, I'm sure someone that knows about it will post the information.
