And don't answer if you don't want to answer...
But would you play Sims3?
I'm so comfortable with Sims2 and everything I see about Sims3 confuses this computer illiterate granny.

I have it and have been playing since the 2nd. I like it, it kinda reminds me of the PS2 Sim's Bust'n Out, how you can change the color of clothing with out having to remake the whole outfit in bodyshop. Bodyshop was a pain for me to work around, so I think EA wanted to make it simple for those that thought the same way.
But once we can get some meshes made Im sure more people will play with it more.
The only bad thin is going to comunity lots and work, it is nice to see where they work but you cant see what they are doing.
Im sure soon we will be able to hack and mod to do the things we want to do. They think they made it harder for us, but that just means it will take longer to figure things out. Get SimPE to notice the files and read them, it will be a breeze to make them.

Well, I don't mind not seeing the place where sims work. Traveling around the entire neighboorhood allows me to visit other sims and that's the only reason I actually play sims3, oh yes I lag less in the sims3 even though I can see the entire town, that's odd... I usually lag when I'm in a manson in sims2 when I put speed2 / speed3

I agree with most people, without EPs and mods this game is not worth playing right now because sims2 offers almost the same thing, some "additions" are actually popular hacks in sims2, everything except traveling freely around town + everyone aging at the same time.

Oh yes... The transition between sims 1 and sims 2 was more "brutal" (aging system, weight, body shop, 3D environment, and later seasons,open for business shops etc) f we compare it with sims 2 and sims 3, that's why most people don't see the good things in sims3

Some people are just frustrated about Sims 3 at the moment. It's natural to vent about something until the "I've been ripped off" nagging goes away. I personally don't think I'll play the game until at least a year or more has passed.

I dont care that they want to try something new. New can be good. But stupid is NEVER good.

Okay, I've seen some of the Sims made, they dont look that bad to me. Yeah, you have fugly ones. But I take those ones and either turn them into slaves or grind them into powder.

Seemless interactive neighborhood?, great idea?..sounds like it. But from what I'm reading, with the inability to control whats going on in the neighborhood, and losing control of the family you play as if you switch. And then losing their awards or posessions whatever. Thats not such a hot idea.

That should be optional at the very least, that when you select a family you can change it so they can operate autonamously or not. Free will anyone?. And of course, when you shut that off, you freeze their needs and such.

Personally, I think going to visit other Sims houses would have been possible in the Sims 2.

And it would not have been any different from going to a public lot. You just needed a few extra movies and camera positions for it. So, y'know. You have your Sim call up a Sim and ask if they can come over, and ask if they can bring their families or friends in their group along. Just like in an outing for an activity. And the other Sim responds like it would for activities.

Said Sim then has the option to walk over, or drive, or since this should even be possible. Be picked up in a cab or car by their friends. Load screen occurs. And them bam, small cinematic of them arriving. Of them walking to and up to the house, ringing the door bell, being greeted and then, ta-dah, visiting time. Or getting out of the car and going up and blah blah blah. Simple right?. And all the camera would have to really do is be able to take into account the lot in question like it does when you move Sims in.

Man, even going for a walk around the neighborhood could be done that way I'm sure.

Bassicly, from what I am reading, alot of what the Sims 3 is boasting as being able to do. Seems very possible in the Sims 2. Without all the crap.

And back to Securom, safe?, uh..yeah...a Safe Securom is a Securom that isnt in your PC. Why they insist on using that hunk of garbage is beyond me when all it does is make things worse and not better.

Now, seeing what I have seen, Sims 3 is clearly moddable. Even if it will take time for other mods. What I'm wondering is, what could EA possibly do to a user caught with Mods?. Cause it seems they're trying to huff and puff, but cant blow this house down.

I'm really starting to hate EA. Like, more then before.

On a side note - the web is already bursting with cracked copies of the release version. SecuROM obviously works like a charm for the sole purpose it has been created for: Aggravating the honest customers.

I've been playing Sims3 for a few days now and I really like it. I have no modding ability and it is nice to be able to make things all matchy-matchy. Also I noticed allot of the features people have a problem with can be turned off in the options menu. You can stop the story progression, aging, whatever. I bought mine at Game Crazy and my Fiancée' is all about hating secure rom and is a computer programmer ( so I would assume he knows things about things that have to do with computers), so he did some weird techno magic to check things out and its not on my computer. I suspect that if I ever ended up with it on my computer it would probably explode in morally outraged goodness.

That said, Sims 3 runs really well. Its so much faster than Sims 2. The frustrating I'm-going-cry laggyness is gone and I like traveling around the neighborhood. The only thing I miss is the pets expansion. I have all the Sims 2 expansions and I realize now thats the only one I really liked. I obviously like bits and pieces from all of the various expansions but thats the one I miss the most. I don't agree that just because Sims 3 doesn't have a bunch of content packs that its not worth playing. I mean there are lots of reasons to like this game and I remember when Sims 2 came out and everyone was up in arms about how they would never play Sims 2 and that it sucked so much more because you couldn't be Harry Potter in magic land.

I figure this too shall pass.

Give the sims3 a chance. When the sims2 came out the only thing that was better was the graphics. It was'nt until all the custom content & EP'S came out that the game became good

Sims 2 was a huge 3-D improvement and deeper gameplay from Sims 1, not just the graphics. I am actually quite satisfied with Sims 2 at the moment. And I think I have better things to spend my $60 on (like lunch at Red Lobster and Mass Effect 2).
