game wont come on

Every time i press play to start the game it says that there is no disk in even though it is and it used to come on after a while but now it doesnt

Can you play a different game using its own CD in your CD drive to see if it works with other games?

My computer reads every game but the sims

One more thing to make sure:

Does your CD or DVD player make odd noises when you run something in it?

no it doesnt

Okay, there are probably a lot of things that could happen:

1. The CD/DVD is scratched up to the point the CD/DVD player probably can't read the disc.
2. If you're computer savvy, you can check the cable and wire connections between the CD/DVD player and the motherboard.

*But you already mentioned that you can play other games just fine with the CD/DVD player. So #2 isn't necessary.

Depending on when you bought Sims 3, you can take it back to exchange for a new one as long as you have the original receipt and explain that you were having issues with the CD/DVD not starting Sims 3 up.

There is one other question. Do you use Pescado's Awesome Mod and a configuration file with the No CD check enabled?

No i deleted awesome and ea just emailed me the sims 3 so its ok now. Another problem im having now is when i download Riverview it doesnt fully download and buildings are missing.

Re-download Riverview since it sounds like you got a corrupted file when you downloaded Riverview.
