Morgan slid down the cold wood of the door as Adam closed it behind him. She had never felt pain so bad, so strong. It felt like her whole being was breaking in two.
Her cries came out as heaving sobs as if the world was never going to be happy again.

Adam stopped outside the door and placed both hands against the cool wood. Hot tears rolled down his cheeks. He had ruined everything. Leaning on his hands he hung his head down, going over the events leading up to this moment.

He had to let her go, let her get on with her life without him in, but she was in his life, under his skin and firmly wedged in his chest like a knife. It felt like he was being torn in two. Pain so bad pressed against his rib cage that he wanted to scream in emotional agony.

He could hear Morgan crying through the door. He had to fight his whole body and not go back in and hold her. He wanted to tell her that everything would be alright again. That he would fix it and make it all better. God knows that was what he wanted to do, but to go back would just hurt Morgan even more. This way was better for her.
Letting the pain ride him he sank down to the floor and curled up in his own arms. He let it all poor out quietly as he listened to her. He hated himself at that moment for hurting her so badly. He loved her so much, would die for her, but he had to stay away for her sake. He just hoped that she would be ok.

He was just glad that he had been able to spend that one night with her and had held her so close. He could still feel the touch of her so close to him. It was almost as if he thought about it hard enough he could turn time back and just be there with her in his arms/
Wiping his face with the back of his hand, he stood up and forced him self to walk down the stairs and out of the building, even though every bone in his body wanted to turn around.

The walk home seemed quicker than he had wanted it to be. Lost in his own thoughts he hadn’t even noticed him self walking back to his flat. Images of Morgan’s tear strained face hunted him like a waking nightmare.

Melody had cleared away the plates and food when he walked back in. She was sat at the dining table happily chatting away to one of her friends. He felt him self getting angry as he watched her. How can she be like this after what she had just done?
"I've gotta go." she said looking directly at Adam. "Yeah 8 o clock. Ok bye."
"You’re going out tonight?" he snapped. "After what you have just done. You’re going out?"

Melody stared at him as if afraid, but he knew she wasn’t. This was just another one of her little acts. She was daddies little rich girl and she knew how to play these games.
"What the hell happened before? What did you get out of doing that to Morgan?"

As if on queue, Melody's face fell into a pout trying to portray that she was just as hurt by it all.
"Don’t start Melody. This is not a game. You were damn right cruel before. I've had it with this crap."
Melody put her arms around her self and held on tight as she could. Her eyes filled as a tear escaped and rolled down her cheek. "I'm sorry Adam. I just get jealous and then I turn. I see the way you look at Morgan and I just saw red. I'm sorry."

Adam slumped down in the chair opposite her and reached for her hands,
"I love you Adam, I don’t want to loose you. I'm really really sorry."
Adam sighed and put his head down. How could two girls make him feel so bad? This was all his fault and he needed to fix it, he just didn’t know how. "You won’t loose me Melody, but you need to stop trying to change me."
He reached over and held her hand to try and reassure her.

Melody nodded and walked around the table to Adam. Her eyes were red, but not puffy. He held onto her pressing his cheek against her. The dampness of her face made his skin clammy. She held him in a tight hug as she managed to hold her tears back.

"I'm scared you will leave me for Morgan. You don’t see what I see. When you look at Morgan you look at her as if no one else exists. You never have that look for me."
"I won’t leave you for Morgan. I won’t be seeing Morgan again; she doesn’t want anything to do with either of us."
