I just bought the Sims 2 and a couple of the expansions, and I thought I'd share my first house. It looks like the bastard child of a fortress and modern art museum, but I'm pretty happy with it. Here's an inventory of the rooms:

Main Room:
  • This sucker's huge.
  • Two stories tall
  • Indoor pool
  • small sitting areas
  • large indoor patio area
  • elevator to rooftop levels
  • opens onto kitchen, dining room, patio, and landing.
Kitchen:
  • Sits above dining room
  • The usual assortment of appliances
  • Small dining table for quick snacks or casual meals
Dining Room:
  • Sitting for six
  • Kind of looks like an airport restaurant
Indoor Patio:
  • Really awesome for formal parties/ballroom dancing, etc.
  • Sitting space
  • Three walls made of nothing but glass... hence, it's pretty well-lit
Rooftop Area:
  • Huge dancing area
  • Two jacuzzis
  • A pool table that doesn't seem to work
  • Outdoor bar and InSIMenator in the far corner
Younger Bedroom:
  • Funky green layout
  • Stairs to roof, w/ telescope and jacuzzi
  • couch and some other stuff
Green Bedroom:
  • Dresser and nice bed
  • Entrance to red bedroom
Red Bedroom:
  • More of those white statues
  • A big mirror
  • The Heart Bed
Greek Bathrooom:
  • All of the encessary plumbing
  • Another mirror
  • A great view
Blue Rec Room:
  • Nice T.V. and sitting area
  • Weight Machine
  • Piano
This could be a community lot very easily with some modification. The roof of the second "Building" on the top floor is unoccupied at this point, but you could stick some stuff up there if you felt like it. I've found that even on my fairly powerful computer I get some serious chop on the roof, so watch out.

And last but not least, a huge thank you to the people who took their time to make their custom creations freely available to creative leeches like me. Since I'm an idiot I forgot to save the addresses and names of the creators of the numerous odds and ends of custom content throughout my lot, but I'll do my best to track them down and put them up when I find them.

Sullview - You should take the time to track down those custom content credits before you post. Sometimes the creators will have explicitly asked that you not upload their content in your lots. You will have to read the text with each item to find out if it's okay to include it, or if you are supposed to not include it, but give a link to the item so that your downloaders can get it for themselves. It's important to pay attention to these details.

Also, you will want to get a copy of the Clean Installer to make sure your lot does not include items that you are not authorized to include in your upload.  Sometimes the game packages items with your lot that you are not actually using, so you'll need to check that to make sure it hasn't.

Also, I noticed that you have included a copy of the InSimenator in your package. I'm sure you didn't do it intentionally, but that is also very much against the rules.

From this thread:

VERY IMPORTANT

Make sure to credit for any custom content used if you are uploading a
Sim or a Residential or Community Lot.

Make sure not to upload anything from a pay site or in violation of the
policies of free sites! Doing this will get you banned from
InSIMenator.net.

Try to provide links to their web sites as necessary and you are able -
this is a normal part of giving credit to artists.

I removed all content with the exception of walls and floors and a couple build mode items. Please refer to Rogues post in the future.
