It may be a conflict, have you tried the sims 2 hack conflict detection utility?

...I always thought it was a game quirk. I've had the same happen without any hacks installed. Not that I mind it, either. Hah.

Dinki, that happened to me before even without Squinge mod.  It is not a conflict but the game acting silly.  

One leader would appear and destroy all my flowers and then a few hours later another one would while the first one is still there.

Don't worry about that.

Well, it didn`t happen to me before, when I installed Pets the first time, even when I got that Squingey`s summon thingie. It started to happen after I installed Pets again :dontknow:

Like I said, it doesn`t bother me much, and they don`t fight cause my sims keep them busy and they usually have a full bowl and a chew toy.
