I'll admit it. I didn't listen to any of his music back in the day--I wasn't allowed.
But I did catch him later in debut on Law & Order SVU.
Most of his music is politically oriented. In fact former president Bush had the law on him a few times. That was because his music, whose titles included "Killers" and "Squeeze the Trigger" was thought to promote violence. Ironically, Desert Storm was ordered in that era by the then president Bush.
Nowadays, rap and hip-hop involve disrespect toward woman; calling them names I shall not repeat; how downtrodden the singer is when in fact hes has more bling than any of us will ever have, and there really obnoxious ones who brag about how good it is to be them. They may be great, but they'll never aspire to what this guy, DMX and others have done.
