I bought the Seasons expansion pack couple of days ago. All of a sudden, I'm unable to purchase new clothes at a community lot. Every time I make a selection, the icon disappears. Plus there's no selection to choose any additional outfit for "Outerwear." And even worse, there's no "Plan Outfit" when selecting clothes from home dressers. Even if you tried switching clothes (i.e. from Everyday to PJ's), the icon disappears. I uninstalled and reinstalled Seasons. I even tried it with and without the latest version "Pregnancy Wear Any Outfit." I moved the Downloads folder to desktop and restarted the game, and it worked properly. So I closed the game, put Downloads folder back in "The Sims 2" folder, and restarted the game. Sure enough, I'm getting the same problem. What should I do? I have the Clean Installer, but it didn't find any problems. I have so many downloads, and I hate to waste time enabling one download at a time and restarting the game just to find out which hack is causing the problem. Help me please

Custom dressers/wardrobes and custom clothing racks could be the problem.  Seasons added Outerwear.  If the custom stuff replaced the semi global file for dresses and clothing racks (it is the same semi global file), they won't work properly.

unfortunately, you can't delete them while playing the game - it said "unable to delete custom content because it is already in use"

Go to buy mode.  Click on the custom dresser.  You now have an option to drop it in the trash can.

that's exactly what I did, and that's when that pop up box came in "unable to delete custom content - item already in use." I guess there's nothing left for me to do but disable and enabling items and restart the Sims 2 game 50 times just to find out what item is affective

If you're unable to delete it that way it would be because you have the item on a lot already.  Replace it on that lot and you should be able to delete it then.

Do you have any clothing rack mods/hacks? If so, try pulling them out from your downloads folder (I keep my hacks and mods in a subfolder in case I have to pull any out). If you don't know where they are or don't know if you have them, you could run clean installer to find them (most hacks are highlighted in red), or you could run the hack conflict utility (you'll find it under sims 2>programs).

I have already deleted the clothing racks/dressers, but I'm still having problems. I hate to disable the custom content because it'll make the game boring. I already have the clean installer, and it found a few red hacks. I'm surprised to see that the latest Insiminator is one of them, and I hate to either disable or delete. You think maybe if I put the hacks in a subfolder inside Downloads folder, it'll make the game run smooth once again?

A mod that shows up in red with Clean Installer is not a bad thing.  All that is saying is that the mod is changing global behavior, just as that pop up asking if you want to enable or disable CC is.

The HCDU CJ mentioned will detect find mods that change the piece of code.  That too is not necessarily a bad thing.  You have to try with and without the pieces that conflict to see what you don't want or what you do want.

As far as the InSIMinator, it's fine.  You don't have to remove it from your game.

Mystery solved! I had to remove a few hacks that were overriding the global and semi-global files. Took me at least a half hour. Now my game is working 100%. It's been a couple of days of confusion, but it's worth it. Thanx, Insimenator.net!!!!!
