Okay, so here's my problem.

I create new sims all the time. I download custom content all the time. But for about a week or so now, even if the sim or sims are ones that came with the game, if i move them into another house I have issues.

1. It'll go through the screen where it shows the family, then all the sims will be outside the house, frozen. Even if I set the speed to the highest setting, pets, sims alike frozen.

Or I get this:

2. It'll stay on the screen with the family name and with a picture of the sims while it loads the house, but the differant icons in the background don't light up, and the house never loads.

After that happens, I promptly Ctrl-Alt-Delete and exit The Sims 2.

I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure it out. I even disabled custom content for a bit, and that didn't work. I'm gonna move the Downloads folder and see if it actually is my downloads, but I'm not sure. I even bought disc cleaner and a special clothy thing. Because I thought it was my Seasons disc.

I have all the eps, GL, and I'm running it on Vista. Which I've had no problems with until now.

But get this, if I make a new Sim, and put it in a house with a family that came with the game, no issues.

I have the Insimenator as well, but I doubt that it is an issue.

Any ideas?

Well trying to remove your downloads folder is a good idea, it will clear an option out.

I suggest you also delete your groups.cache file located in your sims2 folder, it sometimes get corrupted.

I removed it.

Everything was ugly, but worked fine.

I downloaded Delphy's Organizer from ModTheSims2, so I'm deleting some of the hacks I really don't need.

Okay, I deleted that. I'm gonna try it out now. ^^

Don't forget to check for duplicates and orphan using Delphy tools.

If you have many mods, you should also use the "hack detection tool" to check for possible conflict.

It can be found at the http://www.simwardrobe.com site.

just as a FYI, the disc isn't used once the game is loaded, it's just checked to make sure its a legal copy and then the game loads.

I always remove the disc once it loads to the 'pick a neighborhood' screen.

I know.

It apparently was one of the hacks I'd installed recently. Strange though, since it was a hack for more snow in winter. XP
