Active sim disappears from panel?

This might be a game bug or something but has anyone else have an active sim disappear from the active control panel when at a vacation area, any one inside the 3 areas, and had to exit to the neighborhood without saving since nothing was controllable? and yes I just installed the bv patch earlier but this has happened to me before installing it so I know its not the patch giving me problems. I'll try to get a screen shot sometime if you need to see what I mean so you can try to help me.

I forgot to mention this happens when at the vacation spots and clicking on the pay phone at times, not all the times tho when I've had the sims walk to the lots.
