milkshape is great
has a lot of plugins for diff games little hard to start out with but is a great program
cost 29.00 after the 1st 30 days has real good surport from web site there is a froum there too
i also use studiomax 4.2 its not free

ps blender is all right for some things
but for models its not that good

that explains why I can't get the bloody wardrobe to work...
it's a great program, but it doesn't like Mesh Tool

I have never used a 3d program and I have downloaded 2 so far, Milkshape and Anim8tor. Do you think Blender would be the best for some one just starting out?

that depends, really
Blender looks daunting at first, because there a LOT of buttons
but it's very intuitive to use, once you learn to press spacebar (took me ages to find that one)
milkshape certainly looks a lot easier, and there's more tutorials for it (hooray for Jwoods :) )
I've never tried Anim8tor, and there's also Wings3d, another free program
you can always try them all and see which one suits you best
for instance, I've heard people say how easy Wings 3d is, but never got past the opening screen myself
while some people have nightmares about Blender
oh well :)
