I sent my family on vacation, they are stuck in a netherworld between home and twikki

After I installed the game I sent a family on vacation to Twikkii Island. They never arrived. When I click on their house in Strangetown it says they are on vacation and would I like to play that lot. I click yes. Then I am taken to their Twikii Island house where live play, buy and build are all greyed out. However it's stuck on 'buy' because I can still buy items and put them on the lot and delete items. I'm on a Mac, so I fixed permissions and I can now send other sims on successful vacations, as long as I don't have the 'buybuild enabler' in my custom content. But I can't get this family back. Help!

Go to your main hood, to a family which one of it's members is best friend with one of the lost family.
Phone the "lost" sim, and invite him over.
Then, propose to him to move in (take care that the family has less than 5 members), and take with him his rest family.
After you moved them in, tell the husband to find his own place, and add to him his family. They will be in the Sim Bin, but with 20,000$ only.
You have to buldoze their vacation lot, and their main hood lot.
Bottom line, you have to start with them again. You can use the money cheat to increase their wealth.

Here's one of the problems with this. The Vacation home is unusable - it's owned by this family. Will that change? Can he sell it while on vacation? I guess I can try. Thank you! I'll see if this works.

It worked! I teleported him in to another lot, made him selectable, had him sell the vacation home and sent him off with 'find own place'. Yay! Thank you.
