Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell was born July 20, 1964 in Seattle, Washington amongst over five other siblings. Antisocial and musically inclined, Chris played in a slew of bands growing up while working at a seafood restaurant after dropping out of high school. During this time Chris would often go a week or two without speaking to any of his coworkers and nearly got fired for it.
In 1984 Chris, guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Hiro Yamamato and drummer Scott Sundquist formed the first incarnation of Soundgarden. Years later, after playing various small Seattle clubs, they appeared on a musical compilation called Deep Six, which got them noticed and eventually helped them sign to a major label by the early 1990s. By 1994 the band, with a few lineup changes by now, rose to ultimate popularity with their classic album Superunknown, which features hits like
Fell on Black Days,
Spoonman and
Black Hole Sun.
The Chris Sim that I made focuses more on that mid-to-late 90s era Chris, after the haircut, before the Soundgarden split.
