Resizing Adult meshes to Teen meshes

Foreword: I do not have the time or health to expand on this tutorial or to answer many questions about this method.  Anyone who is interested may take over this thread and this tutorial and translate it into whatever language they choose for use on any site they choose.

In SimPE
1. Extract the adult mesh you wish to convert
2. Extract a similar teen mesh and make a package

In MilkShape 3D
3. in Milkshape import the adult mesh from step No.1
4. delete the morphs if you like
5. select all
6. select the scale button in Model
7. in the "Scale Options" change all the numbers in X Y & Z to 0.94
-- NOTE: the reverse, teen to adult uses 1.0638297872340425531914893617021 as the scale value
8. change "center of mass" to "origin"
9. click the "Scale" button one time
10. change to "Select" mode
11. import the teen face object
12. select pairs of vertexes in the area of the neck with each use the "Extended Manual Edit" tool to match the X Y Z values of mesh 0 to the values of mesh 1
13. when done - go to the Groups panel and delete the Face
14. export (as GMDC) the now small adult mesh and save with any name
15. start a new project in Milkshape
16. import the teen mesh from step No.2
17. delete the morphs in the Groups Panel
18. select and copy the Comment of the remaining teen mesh
19. import the smaller adult mesh you saved in step No.14 - do not include new bones!
20. in the Groups panel select the teen mesh (the top one)
21. go to the Vertex menu and select "Snap Together"
22. on the Model panel select move
23. move the now tiny red dot to a place outside the smaller adult mesh
24. in the Groups Panel select the adult body
25. regroup
26. paste the comment you copied from step No.18
27. click OK
28. rename the "Regroup01" (or a similar name" to "body" (or top or bottom if this is what is being made)
29. click the "Up" button til "body" is at top
30. in the Model Panel change to Select
31. un-select everything
32. select the little dot
33. delete the little dot

In SimPE
34. find the name of the GMDC
35. select and copy the name without the _tslocator_gmdc part

In MilkShape 3D
36. export the mesh using the name copied in step No.35

In SimPE
37. select the GMDC in the top right panel
38. right click the mouse
39. import the simpe
40. save the package file

Thank you very much for this tut, I have had a mesh that I wanted to mod for a long time but never got the numbers right for the XYZ. We all really appreciate your tuts & your time spent here on the sites. I will be hoping for a speedy recovery for you *hugs*

Tho, you making it so hard.......
This is how i do it:

*Import a teen mesh with the morphs
*import the adult mesh with the morphs
*select the adult mesh and its morphs
*scale to 94% (0.94) with ''origine'' box ticked at scaling options.
*Fix the neck vertices and normals using Wes H normal and Date merge tool.(your using the original teen mesh as reference mesh here)
Or use extended manual edit and copy and paste the neck vertice value's.
*delete the original teen mesh and teen morph
*export

I normal drop the shoulders also back to teen size as i suspect necklesses and such wont fit the scaled mesh, but i forgot if this is only a issue on the females or both female and male.

:lol: Bloom - that's anther way yes - but you are have been doing this a while, I list all the steps in this way for the base beginner.  You and I have work habits that we develop from frequent use, some of these are compressions of the steps.  I know from my own frustration when following tutorials  written by the "masters" that the "why" of everything is never explained.  Better they kknow all the steps as a unique action, then develop short-cuts than learn short-cuts and not understand what they are doing, no?  When writing a tutorial the worst evil is to allow our experience with the method result in "assumed knowledge" to come into the writing.

I develop this step by step after trying to teach - I don't know - maybe 30 people how to do this.  This is what I ended up with and worked best to teach people in Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, and English with few questions or the need of repeated teaching.  After they know the harder way, I then suggest an easier way.

In the end - this isn't just about making the conversion from adult to teen, but also about learning how to use Milkshape 3D and SimPE and the plug-ins for Milkshape.  This way they see each tool one at a time, see the steps separated and may remember them for use with any sort of work, build their skills and confidence with the tools.

The teen male and the teen female skeletons are different in many regards. The female skeleton has some serious differences between teen and adult that are not so strongly pronounced in the males. So, yes, I could see where additional work might be required for females.  But that would be "advanced" information - again, not for the base beginner.

So glad I found this!  I had tried it before but missed one little step:

8. change "center of mass" to "origin"

It resulted in a disconnected floating head and strange arms.  Thanx so much for posting this info!

This Tutorial looks great, I don't have a similar outfit for a teen (It is a skintight costume) and I'm not sure what to do. Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Cause I'm the vision guy that I understand stuffs easier with looking at the pictures then texts.

Unfortunate that tut doesn't explain how to fix the neck, guess he forgot.
