Turning normal lots into beach lots - need advice!

Ok so I have all these gorgeous mediterranean lots I've downloaded before Bon Voyage came out and I think they would looks GREAT if they had their own private beach so I was thinking of doing some little adjustmenst with Simpe. What I was actually planning to do was placing them as close to the sea as I can, then expanding the lot size and then changing the lot type. Now this sounds very easy but there's one very important question I have no answer to: will it work? I mean, will the sea be swimmable and stuff? I know you're probably thinking "Why the heck don't you try then?" but I'm kinda worried it could make my game crash or I could lose my downloads or even my neighbourhoods...
So I thought I'd ask you guys cause I think some of you probably understand more about these things than I do. :smile:
I'll probably end up making a backup and trying but I thought I could ask anyway before I do.

I'm not sure if you can actually convert the lot.. but over at Sim Logical, Inge has a mod that allows you to place a beach object on non-beach lots to make them function like one.

Ok, I tried and it didn't work. Guess I'll have to make screenshots and rebuild the houses if I really want them on a beach. Anyway, thanks a lot!
