MoreCaffeine-AL is based on Squinge's original mod "MoreEnergyFromCoffee" and this mod allows Sims to spend at least 2 hours or less drinking a cup of coffee, espresso or hot chocolate from start to finish (preparing, drinking and cleaning the cup). The decay rate for the Bladder Need has been decreased slightly but significantly enough to go to the bathroom if there is time before work or not go to the bathroom.

Children can caffeinate themselves with hot chocolate only.

Does this take less time than usual for more energy gain, or a longer time, or the same?

I hate them taking ages to drink it, for very little energy improvement. I never let them have coffee as a result.

Yes, it takes less time to drink coffee, espresso or hot chocolate to gain more energy. Roughly 2 hours or less from start to finish (preparing, drinking and cleaning the mug).
