76  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Fantasy Creatures... on: August 19, 2010, 11:28:44 am
I have never worked on a fantasy hood, but am somewhat curious as to what kind of neat objects and Sims I can add to it if I were to ever experiment. However, some of the fantasy creatures made for Sims 2 that I am curious about adding that I am for sure I have seen before, I can't seem to find now...

- Centaurs (I'm almost certain I have seen these)
- Satyrs

Any other fantasy creatures I could be missing that anyone here is able to direct me to?

Also, is this character (in the heading of this site) a Satyr? http://www.michellepettitmee.com/movietips/?page_id=21. It's a great looking custom-made Sim. I have tried to see the downloads on this site, even the homepage, but it won't allow me to and directs me elsewhere.

Also, is there a certain requirement, such as me having to own specific EP's for me to download creatures like these? I have all the EP's up to Pets (Uni, NL, OFB, Pets)

I don't see any wedding cakes to add to a sims wedding, or perhaps another birthday cake would be nice to add to buy mode to celebrate a birthday in sims 2.

I know this only is an answer to half your post, but if you would like to celebrate a birthday, I am glad to offer these objects for you:

Cakes: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=341369 OR http://www.sims2cri.com/eng_food_cake.php

Presents: http://www.simwardrobe.com/ AND / OR http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=376398

Other party things: http://www.simslice.com/thesims2/ts2objects.htm (pages 1, 4, 11)

I'm sure there is more. These are just a few things for you to get started. I get by just fine on birthdays or weddings without having the Holiday Party Pack or other EP's.

Hope these links help.

78  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: Things you've only recently discovered about the game on: August 19, 2010, 10:20:22 am
Hm... how grateful I am to not having bought Sims 3.

This is one of my newest discovery's about TS2 (because I really didn't pay attention before): I have spent a better part of my morning now just looking through Sim sites and comparing how much more beautiful TS2 Sims are in contrast to TS3 Sims. Sorry to those of you who enjoy or like the Sims 3, but they are FUNKY LOOKIN'!! I'm glad I stuck to my guns on just expanding on 2.

(NOTE: The above was not meaning to begin a brawl, but just to state my opinion)

The great thing about this game is that I always find myself discovering new things all the time, even after owning the game for nearly 7 years (even the little stuff like shortcuts)!

One of my greatest discovers is that you can hit the TAB key on your keyboard while taking a picture, so it includes all objects, plant-life, stairs, and everything else that may fade as you zoom in to take a picture. Then you hit TAB again to get the menu back. Great tool!

Another, is when I use a pregnancy mod to end a pregnancy, usually the Sim will still walk and act like she's prego for awhile after that. But, in order for her to stop, I change the day and wait an hour or so (Sim-time) and she'll be back to normal.

Also, I have to say, that some of my greatest discoveries were due to combining tips and cheats that I have gotten from some of you guys on this site. So, thanks, for helping my game-play just improve (not to sound too sappy, lol).

With all due disrespect to the administration, while I understand not being able to put links down, I find it hard to believe we can't even mention the site name. Oh, well.

Please send me a PM with the site name or the link as well, thanks.

Hey, thanks, caffeinated.joy. Really appreciate it. I was just making sure.
81  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Forgot How to Delete a Sim... on: August 15, 2010, 09:49:42 am
I searched for how to delete a Sim in these forums, and I can't find it worth a dang.

Can anyone remind me of how to do so to "reboot" a Sim when it's stuck or acting funky?

As far as I can remember... I go into a lot, delete a Sim, save my game, and then exit to the neighbourhood. When I return to the lot, the Sim should be standing, as good as new, by the mailbox. Is that correct?

First of all, have you downloaded any custom naked skins for your Sims? It may be they don't show up or may not be compatible with certain expansions (due to needing updates or made within one game, etc). Although, I've only heard of mods or hacks doing this.

Have you tried deleting the Sims and then returning to the lot? Sometimes it just reboots the Sim. Not sure if it will work, but it might, pending on the type of problem you have. If you don't know the steps for this and you would like to try, you can check back with the post above. I need a recap on how to do that as well, anyway.

I'm not sure if this is the best advice to give, but you could try to download new naked skins.

Also, just a question ~ did you happen to just download these expansions all at once? Or did you test the game in between each download to see if they were working correctly (sometimes it helps going in and playing with it for awhile to make sure). I just ask because I downloaded two in a row and all I did was go into the game and check out the neighborhood. Little did I realize my game was messed up until I actually went into some lots and found out that the families had been corrupted. This option, however, may not be the best tip. Re-installing should always be your last resort.

Thanks for the tips. I'll give it a go.
84  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Not getting pregnant?? on: August 08, 2010, 10:51:52 am
Do you know that for awhile InTeen was not going to be updated after... Pets, was it? But alas, it was finally updated, I believe, all the way through to AL. You might want to check that update, if you didn't already. That was one of the reasons I was holding back on getting AL for awhile.

I am not sure, however, on the InSIM and how it works with Seasons and beyond. I have gotten so reliant on InSIM in my game, I'd rather deal without the expansions than to be without InSIM altogether.

I agree with Paden, too. It might take a little time to show up.

My only issue is sometimes using both mods to manipulate her pregnancy. When I get her pregnant with one and then abort using either the same mod or another (not sure which), it confuses her to the point when I abort, she still walks around like she's carrying a bun in the oven. It's really weird and I'm not really sure why that happens or how it seems to correct, but oh well.

At any rate, I hope you can find a way to keep both. They are great mods.

85  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Make a Beach Lot on: August 08, 2010, 10:23:51 am
I don't know if this answers your question, but you can easily just change the terrain from grass to sand.

I have downloaded a few terrains that help to create different landscapes. I downloaded a few ocean / water terrains and then I add sand and rocky / sand pebble terrains to help out with the beach look. That's also how I create my harbor / dock lots.

It does seem to take forever for them to do that, then. But I will take your advice and try to be patient, lol. But you know the Simmies ~ takes them forever to do anything!
87  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Missing Sims = Glitched Neighbourhood? on: August 06, 2010, 09:57:50 am
I had a similar problem. I installed Pets (AFTER backing everything up and it still failed) and only one of my neighborhoods short-circuited, I guess you could say. I tried everything from trying to fix my NH to re-installing. Nothing. I spent weeks trying to find and fix my neighborhood and get my Sims and lots back through SimPE. Unfortunately, I am no Jedi master when it comes to that program and so I had no idea how to fix them. They are still in there. It's just restoring them that's my issue.

I had used a Sims terrain (no custom content) to create my own neighborhood. I had an attached city and college community. They were populated quite moderately, so there was no danger of a meltdown due to a problem in overpopulation (If I ever had a danger of that, there are many forms of population control). Every time I loaded the neighborhood, it had problems loading. Went back to an earlier time where all the Sims were a step-down in age (before most of my town was built, sadly) and it runs all right. Never did find out exactly how to fix it, or how to get any of the real hard work I've done back. I was too disheartened to even go back and replay and rebuild because I lost so much stuff (about 8 months worth of work). So, I kinda' just gave up on the whole neighborhood and started a new one.

I think the last response I got was somewhere along the lines of: "Well, sometimes it's the Maxis program that is at fault." However, I was told that I might be able to fix it if I knew SimPE really well. As I said before, I am just a Padawan at PE... if even that.

I'm telling you now ~ all the Sim experts on this site need to band together in each city and instead of "Geek Squad", they should have a "Sim Squad" and for a small fee, come to your house and fiddle around with the dang SimPE program and other files for people like me who are not exactly Sim experts, lol.

All in all, I am glad you figured out what your problem was. I'd have to say, my problem is still a mystery to me!

Just as a note, you can also have families move to a college community. I have a young couple of two toddlers living on campus so she can go to college. He has a regular job.

89  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Electrono Ticket Machine on: August 06, 2010, 09:21:40 am
Okay, so I've been avoiding this object since I first got OFB a couple years back. It's the frickin' Electrono Ticket Machine.

I would like this object at some of my businesses, because I have a few clubs in my community. It sounded, at least, like the perfect object to keep the cash comin' in merely by having Sims on the lot. However, it has been more of an annoying object, rather than helpful. Every time I put that thing on my lot, tons of people gather all right ~ around the object! Is there a way that I can place it and not have everyone come up to it and just gawk it for hours at a time? I just didn't think that when the Sims gather, they would put the object itself in the spotlight.

Any tips?

Okay, you rock, joy. Of course, I should have guessed Beos would have created something awesome like that.

If there are any other suggestions, please let me know.
