1  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Help / Re: vacation Problems on: July 26, 2011, 07:20:51 am
This bug was fixed in AwesomeMod ages back and EAxis finally got around to fixing it for themselves.
2  The Sims 3 / Pudding Requests / Re: Late Night Band Mods on: December 15, 2010, 06:24:14 am
There are only 4 band members because there are only 4 band instruments, no? So what would the 5th guy do?

We are ahead of schedule. Migration will commence sometime in the dead of night today. That is all.

I wasn't complaining, actually -- I happen to LIKE them. We still have issues with humans posing as spambots, but those are easily dealt with.
To deal with those, you just push "Delete account with all posts". Never merely remove the posts, or do anything other than delete them in a way such that they never existed, since making a mark on your site is exactly what they want, and thus if you do anything other than a full Damnatio, you're playing into their hands.
6  The Sims 3 / Pudding Requests / Re: could someone make this mod on: November 12, 2010, 09:30:06 am
Vampires are not turning each other. What happens is that Story Progression is randomly turning people into vampires. The actual vampires themselves do nothing of the sort. To avoid this, turn off Story Progression and/or get AwesomeMod. The game is horribly broken without it anyway, as vampires are just horribly bugged to begin with.

The spamfilters are not OVERZEALOUS. They are EXCELLENT spammer traps, because spammers have this amusing tendency to be scrupulously honest and almost never LIE about their email addresses, like any SENSIBLE person would, so many can be prevented from registering at all simply by banning registration from all easily available free emails...which stops no one from actually getting in because they could just lie about it.
8  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / EAxian Spyware And YOU! on: June 29, 2010, 08:25:27 am

As some of you may be aware, the latest Pudding contains an insidious SPYWARE that phones home to its EAxian Masters.

What nefarious things does it report? Well, for starters, the following things have found to be reported:
1. Your device stats. If you've ever read a crashlog, this means the game is reporting back the name of your computer, and your username. This quite possibly means *YOUR* name.
2. Every time you startup your game. Are you home? EAxis knows you are now.
3. The name of your saved games. Do you name your saved games after your fambly members, perhaps because its theirs? EAxis knows this now.
4. Every cheat code you type in. Do any of those things contain any names you wouldn't want someone to know about? EAxis knows this now.
5. Everything you buy from build/buy mode.
6. An enormous number of things your sims do: What jobs join or leave, what moodlets they get, potentially their NAMES...do you name your sims after people you know? EAxis knows this now.
7. Much more not yet uncovered.

Naturally, all internet communications reveal your IP address unless special measures are taken. In combination with some of the above, this information is now potentially life-threatening. A number of early modders were killed, disappearing under mysterious circumstances, when they came too close to the truth, so EAxis has been known to kill people.

How YOU can protect yourself:
1. Do not allow the game to communicate with the Internet.
2. Use AWESOMEMOD. AwesomeMod cripples many of these logging features by disabling their listeners, which will not only protect your privacy, but also improve game performance every so slightly.

If you want to stop someone from hotlinking your pictures, just Goatse them. They'll stop real fast. Tongue
10  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Meat Plant: Vegetarian or not? on: May 04, 2010, 09:16:58 pm
Doesn't matter whether you reduce the trees chopped for wood or not, since the trees are specifically grown TO be chopped for wood. Although recycling paper has its uses, reducing the amount of trees chopped is not one of them. I'm pretty sure by now they have genetically modified trees with hormone treatment specifically to grow to be large and choppable very quickly, so we can chop them and start the cycle anew.
11  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Meat Plant: Vegetarian or not? on: May 02, 2010, 01:00:06 am
And by buying a book or even the paper to the shopping list you take to the store, you're still a part of chopping down the trees that gives the Earth oxygen.
Actually, at this point, paper is pretty much an ecologically friendly alternative. While it is made of dead trees, it is made of dead trees we planted for that purpose in the first place, and much of what is used as paper is scrap wood unsuitable for use as lumber anyway, which is why it is pulped for paper.
12  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Meat Plant: Vegetarian or not? on: April 26, 2010, 12:57:57 am
If you, like you Sim could, plant a meat plant and eat something from it, would you consider it vegetarian or not? I was discussing this with my mother earlier and it was an odd thought question that came up. Opinions?  Grin
I imagine that depends on why you are a vegetarian. If you are a weedy vegetarian because you don't care for the taste of meat for some reason, then this wouldn't really help. If you do so because you believe that the collection of meat entails some kind of intolerable cruelty, then it would. I personally eat meat because it is necessary to my survival, so it makes no difference to me where it comes from. I am not even picky about how I get regular meat.
13  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / Re: Kate Beckinsale as Selene on: February 09, 2010, 09:09:00 pm
Pescado's comment was intended to imply the highlights added for shine wouldn't just look different, but would look like ugly white blobs in game, which, they might if you have a card that barely passes the minimum requirements and you have, by necessity, your game settings on the lowest ones possible for ease of play.
Not quite true: Ugly-white-blobism will appear even on top of the line cards, if the shine-blobs are overdone and implemented as, well, ugly white blobs, and therefore, do not respond appropriately. It's actually MORE apparent if you're using higher settings than lower settings.
14  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Celebrities / Re: Kate Beckinsale as Selene on: January 20, 2010, 08:57:28 pm
I get the distinct impression that these screenshots are heavily doctored, because in my experience, excessive painted-on shiny never looks as good in the actual game as it does in the preview shots. They always look good in the screenshots, then you get in the game and they're clearly patchy, solid, white spots.
15  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Always casual clothes for work on: December 25, 2009, 09:18:09 pm
This feature can be accomplished in AwesomeMod: If you move the career uniform, leaving nothing in that category, or copy the everyday uniform, they will use it. You can even customize their career uniform this way.
