17  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Walk With Mood? on: June 07, 2007, 01:43:10 pm
I read on a movie making tutorial there's a way to do this with boolprop. But it says to shift+click on "the staircase". What staircase? My regular in game staircases to the next floor seemed to bring about no such options even with boolprop on.

Does this "cheat" really work?
18  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / What makes Sims reject hugs? on: June 07, 2007, 01:16:10 pm
Ooo, that'd be cool! Thanks.

I have all of the Expansion Packs (University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets and Seasons.) I don't have any of the Stuff Packs, and I don't have that Holiday edition thing.

I never knew a rejected hug would be so hard to get Sims to do, so it'd be much appreciated.
19  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sims only shows up in Body Shop not the game!! on: June 05, 2007, 12:34:53 am
I get a weird glitch where sometimes when I load my Sim bin they show me "doubles" of other custom Sims but once,I click the box it actually shows up as the Sim I'd made but couldn't find as the model. Are you seeing any doubles of other custom Sims?
20  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / What makes Sims reject hugs? on: June 05, 2007, 12:24:16 am
No worries Sleepycat. I imagine most people are trying to get relationships up between two adults/teens and WANT Them to hug, but me, I want them to reject hugs. Bad things have happened to the people in my video putting them in a totally non-huggy mood.

I was about to start trying ways to make Sims "furious" at each other to get the hugs rejected but just feeling like they don't know the Sim seems to be working. I too thought mood would play a factor, so I went about trying to make sure a Sims social needs were completely met but that they had low energy/bladder/hunger and such. None of which really made my Sims nonhuggy. They just complained a bunch BEFORE accepting the hug anyway.  I remember in Sims 1 sims would max out social and totally get sick of people. They could be best friends but if you made them hug more than 3 times in a row they'd start rejecting them like "hello, you hug too much, you creep!" I don't see Sims 2 sims get tired of social that way. Which was convenient for gaming but not for storytelling/movie-making.

Anyway, I will look into the ACR, ancienthighway.  Thanks! ETA: I took a peek, but I'm not sure what effect  it'd have on parent or adult /child relationships.

My free will is/was off. Still, getting Sims to reject each other is under the control of a reacting Sim who remains under the AI's control.
22  Resident Creators / Squinge's Mods / Tuck in anyone New Version Available(6/17/06) on: June 04, 2007, 12:26:44 am
Thank you so much for this. It's going to be great in my movies. Is it supposed to only be available once per time a Sim gets in bed?

I have the nonautonomous version. I'm running all the expansion packs through Seasons (no stuff packs) on Windows XP, and I put a little sim girl to bed then had her tucked in by one parent. Then the option disappeared and no one else could her in until I got her out of bed and sent her back to bed. Then once again, the option only appeared once and I would have to get her out of bed to do it again.

I've come to the conclusion that the game feels you know someone well enough to hate them, you know them well enough to hug them. However a relationship score of something like 4/5 or something makes your Sim feel they don't know someone well enough to hug them. That or it just made enemy Sims particularly open to mild interactions that would lead them to "making up".  My dumb Sim kids will happily accept hugs from both their enemies or friends that are non-family adults  But not from Sims they barely know.

Anyway, I knew there was a lot a Sim wouldn't do with a nonfamily adult, thankfully I body-shopped all my characters so I can create them again and again, related or unrelated to get all the interactions I need.
24  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / What makes Sims reject hugs? on: June 03, 2007, 11:15:01 am
I did wonder if I had possibly dropped their relationship points too low. Like that once it was in the negatives then the game would be happy for them to accept almost any interaction that would help bring it back up, as if thinking of hug like apologize or something.

Does all that attraction etc. play into adult/child relationships? One of my hug rejecting Sims is supposed to be a child rejecting the (friendly) hug of adult unrelated sim of her household? And I also wanted it for a mother/teen,  interaction as well. Though I thought it possible I would just have to create a 'stranger' mom double to use.  I don't know if children have any of the romance/relationship preferences, and I didn't think they'd be exactly active within the family, but I really know very little about any of the deep mysteries of Sim coding  The most I've ever done is turn on the simDNA.

Thanks for all the thoughts everyone. If I get debug social on, will I be able to choose to make them decline hugs?
25  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / What makes Sims reject hugs? on: June 03, 2007, 12:04:27 am
This is driving me nuts. I'm trying to make a music video and no matter what I seem to do, my Sims are always willing to hug each other. I've boolproped them down to completely negative as negative can be relationship points, I've dropped all their needs towards red to put them in a bad mood, and still the second a Sim hugs them they're up for it. I've even made the to be recieving hug Sim really mean and really shy, figuring they'd be less huggy people and it doesn't work.

Could it be because they all live on the same lot? I've often come across visitors who don't like to be hugged by your super outgoing sims. But why in the world are they always in the mood for hugs?

Some kind of glitch?
26  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / How much time do you spend on houses? on: November 22, 2006, 10:34:20 pm
This was a perfect topic for me to happen upon because I recently changed my time spent on houses. I got the Sims2 shortly after it came out but I always used the lots and houses bin, or had friends make them for me. If ever I tried to make a house for myself, I usually built it badly, messed it up so it never looked nice asthetically. I experimented with making basements etc. but after that I built for playability. I never decorated. I never used curtains or rugs and they only got that cheapest square mirror when they needed charisma points. I built one story houses because that was what was easiest to raise a child in so that the toddler was never stuck upstairs etc.

When my friends would send me their houses to use they were always full of couchs and such I never knew the Sims even had.

Well, I like to write fanfics. And in a fanfic I wrote I had to envision a mansion. And after writing the story for about a year I decided to try and build the mansion on Sims. It's pretty square, it took me 10 hours spread over 4 days to build and was the first time I spent longer than 20 minutes building a house. I downloaded custom content to make it look exactly the way I pictured it in my head. I used curtains, rugs, fish tanks, sofas I'd never used before, I built a full kitchen with the dining room as an actual separate room. And I had so much fun. I loved it.

I couldn't believe building could be so much fun. I always thought I wanted to play and that building WASN'T playing, and now I'm really happy to have finally after years discovering this aspect of The Sims 2. Now, I totally want to build cool places for my people to live.

After the mansion/estate, I built a loft house and it only took me a couple hours over 2 days. Thus the mansion was a great crash course because I was like, oh I'm done  and felt like it hadn't taken any time at all.

I do have to say even though I may try harder to make my houses pretty, I will try to keep them small. When I got done making the mansion which I had built on the HUGE lot. It was actually too many walls for me to actually play without horrible lag so I had to play it with walls down. Plus it takes Sims forever to walk from Point A to Point B. And they always pick the toilet with the bathroom that's furthest away when their bladder need is extremely low. I agree with Shadeaustar. Sims are a bit dumb and if they have a large house with lots in it, they don't function well.
27  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Custom Objects & Recolors / Melscape's request: cardboard endtable on: November 21, 2006, 08:43:33 pm
Okay, I've finally seen it and yes! I did have the table and I found this recolor of it. I love the made in china stamped across it especially. Thanks so much! I will find this very useful.

I just wanted to apologize for having not gotten back to you yet. The computer my Sims is on has been tied up for 3 days straight by my sister doing homework. She won't let me on it for even 5 minutes to run a test of this object. Sad

I hope to get to test it and get some feedback to you soon. Sorry it's taking so long.
29  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Custom Objects & Recolors / Melscape's request: cardboard endtable on: November 20, 2006, 12:04:29 am
Aw, thank you.

A few questions:  Do you know which table this is a recolor of? (And what expansion it came with or if it's from the base game?)  Does it show up as it's own separate end table in the end tables section of the catalogue or in misc? Or does it show up as a recolor as the endtable it's based off of?

Thanks again.
