1  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Help / Re: to help everyone else out on: June 05, 2009, 02:28:48 pm
The game doesn't store CC in the downloads folder but shoves it all into a .dbc file in your DCCache folder and that that's how it shows up in the game. The downloads folder is just storage for installed Sims3Pack files.  You can leave them there or put them somewhere else for safe keeping it really doesn't matter.

Also all the "x5b53beca23*441$0b*3850e1c*3c$530.package" files in your DCBackup folder can be deleted too. They're just extra.

Ali you can sub folder stuff in your Program Files/Electronic Arts/Sims 3/ Mods folder but you need to make an adjustment in your .cfg file to accommodate that. It's all stupidly complicated.

Actually I had the exact same thing as Scratch mentioned happen yesterday. I haven't played a vacation hood in a long time and decided to send some YAs over to get give it look and when they arrived they had all aged up. I sent them home to see what would happen and they arrived back at their dorm as adults. Also all their wardrobes had changed to whole bunch of EA stuff and all  4 had the exact same collection. There was also some strange person in the cab with them when they arrived, don't know where she came from. (bizarre but interesting)

I wouldn't have of thought this mod caused the conflict but when I saw the other post I thought... hmmm, I wonder.

Just so you know I also have Inge's UniBreak installed. Although I didn't use it this time, it's there.

Is it possible there is some conflict happening? And ya I'm playing AL.
6  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Freetime and downloads works now on: June 06, 2008, 08:00:45 am
Cut/paste your downloads folder to your desktop. Run Bodyshop, wait until its fully opened then close it. You should have a new downloads folder. Cut/paste everything the old on your desktop into the new one. Usually works.
7  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Updating Tv's and computers on: June 05, 2008, 08:40:52 am
You're not being a pain. The instructions are based on editing the objects in SimPE. That's the program which you need you use to edit all the objects they are discussing. If you don't know what it is, look here.

This is a basic cheap computer package opened.

If you've never used it before, I suggest you find/read some tutorials before using it. There are many around, and for a lot of the objects mentioned, it's quite basic. Some others are more complicated, but look around because someone might have done them already.

I would just wait until the new NoCD fix comes out, which should be very soon, then use that. No cd, No SecuRot, No shit.
10  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sims won't bathe or use toilet on: May 25, 2008, 08:40:24 am
I had the exact same problem once, and the FFS tool fixed it for me. I cleaned out the corrupt memories and trash then wiped the sims attraction makers. They get buggy sometimes.
11  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / need help with a no jealousy thingy. on: May 21, 2008, 09:23:59 pm
I wasn't aware that was an option, but you could always go to the SimPE forum and ask there. There were some hacks that did this, but they are no longer updated as far as I know, including Insim. However you could always use Twojeffs ACR or Pescado's romancemod. The ACR you have to set up for the neighbourhood, and includes a lot of other interactions that you need to be aware of before using it, so rftm. Pescado's romancemod simply makes adjustments to the jealousy reactions in order to make them more reasonable, but doesn't stop them completely.

Cheers

Actually christianlov has returned and just updated his skintone changer over at MTS2. So if you're willing to be adventurous, that might be your answer. Make sure you backup before you use it. Be warned that screwing with Sims DNA can make for interesting offspring.

You know once you've done the things mentioned above, if still doesn't work, this trick always works for me. Remove your downloads folder, just cut/paste to your desktop. Then run Bodyshop, just wait till it loads up completely, then close it, and you should have a new Downloads folder. All you have to do now, is just copy/paste everything from the old folder on your desktop into the new folder you just created. Fire up the game and everything should be there.

A lot of the appliances/electronics/etc are fairly easy to update for Freetime if you have a basic knowledge of SimPe. There's a couple of threads over at Maty that explains it very well. I did my own. There's also a modder over there that has done a bunch of them already, and are being offered for download.

The SimBlender tool is really great, as theraven just said. It's new and I've just started using it myself, it's from twojeffs over at Simbology. Make sure you do your homework if you want to use it,  but a great tool.

Always keep your hacks/mods in a separate folder and appropriately named, then it's really easy and convenient to access them and update as need. Anything that isn't yet updated, or is not being updated by the creator or someone else, chuck it, you can live without it.

The game is not going to fix itself, you have to do it.

EA seems to be intent on making gameplay as complicated and labourous as possible. Even a perfectly legal copy, bought and paid for, is not enough anymore. Do you trust them, they apparently don't trust you. Protecting their property is one thing, coming into your home to do it, is something entirely different. At least inform yourselves, then make your own decision. It's your game, it's your computer, you decide what you want on it, and how much overseeing you're willing to accept. You might want to check out this site.
