Simmers' Paradise / Contests & Challenges / Cool Finds for Contests!
|
on: October 15, 2008, 06:45:04 pm
|
This isn't really a find so much as something I do to help myself on contests. When I start a contest, I create a collection folder in game just for it and name it like the sims name or name of the contest. Then when I download stuff or am looking through all the catalogs then I assign the things I think I might want to use to that collection folder. Later when Im getting ready to start my pictures, then I just click on that contest folder and almost all the stuff I want to use for that contest is there in one spot and then when the contest is over I can either delete it or see if applies toward another one Im in. When you have as many downloads as I do it can take forever sifting through them to find this or that so having a collection folder per contest really helps me save time looking.

nhayes, great pictures!! Lol Im going to do the same-I really love this expansion-its neat to be able to have your neighbors and visit them. I just did one of the tutorials too on how to build your own apartment cause I like the outsides but not the insides of some in the game-either too small or have too many of the wall closets that block the view so I built my own now. Here's some of mine from my new apartment neighborhood This is one of my girl's at the playground-one of the neighbor kids is playing along with her Falling off the monkey bars Looking out the tower Riding the little horse One of the neat things I like is how when a new person comes to rent an apartment, the other neighborhors come out too to see the new person-I rent all the apartments out to my own families so they are all ones I interact when its their floor Im on--I tried the apartments that were side by side but when you are playing the active family the other apartment shows up empty so its hard to take pictures or do anything unless all the walls are up-but if you do the apartments were each one is on a seperate floor then its much easier. I also love the trailer park that comes with this expansion too I love alot of the new features like the windows-this is a studio apartment for one of my girls The neighbors can visit each other but only the family you are playing at the moment are ones you can control. This one the girl came down to visit and invite the little girl up to play with her sister Signing a rental agreement Playing peekaboo and hugs http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z224/lil_yellow_rose/prescottway/daisy/daisyrose104.jpg" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting">

Rebecah, these are fantastic! I have a shipwrecked style family right now in my new neighborhood and Im using these. I had to tell you how much I love them! They look so great in game. Really adds to the feel of it being a castaway/shipwrecked style -love them here's a couple shots from my family using them-one is when the little guy is a baby and the other he is toddler just escaping from the crib-they look just perfect in the family's little hut http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z224/lil_yellow_rose/tanglewood%20cove/lexie/lexie12.jpg" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting">

Simmers' Paradise / FreeTime Help / Freetime Important Info

Thanks so much for the heads up. So far I haven't had that happen much with the custom content I have but it gives me an excuse to get some new stuff update for free time. Some of the changes though in personality and stuff are worth it to me to have the expansion. I love that now there is a change in things like what turns a sim on/off--to have more choices other than hair color and cologne is wonderful. To me it just makes them more complex and its fun learning now what combinations of things work together. I love custom content and Im a total download junkie but lol I've also got a folder started of sites that are already have free time updates of clothes, items and so on. I really like some of the content too like the entertainment center and new nursery stuff. I tend to go in cycles of things I put in all my houses and with the new bathroom and kitchen one coming out soon too, I can't wait to try them. I have a couple things that haven't worked on old stuff but then it gives me the excuse to start on a new download spree I think its going to be one of those where everyday for awhile all kinds of new stuff will come out from the great creators on all the sims sites. Then I will find all kinds of new things I can't live without

Raven, insim still works just fine on mine-it even picks up the new careers like oceanography and dancing. I had to take inteen out cause not only did it stop the toddlers from learning the new stuff but it make interactions more difficult like my mom I was testing it on didn't want to pick up her baby. Insim was fine but Im still not sure on all the toddler hacks. I had some learning ones that I can't use right now and my magic potty one disappeared so I have the toddler poses in but I haven't tried them yet to see if they work. I was just happy insim did but then Im not sure how it is for everyone. I took mine out and added in a few at a time until I saw what worked and what didn't. There are some great new animations though with the toddlers. I can't wait to see what the modders do with the new items and animations in the future. I saw on another site too that they said there is yet another expansion pack to be coming later this year too so can't wait to see what's ahead Anyway insim works on mine but you know how that goes it always a risk to try stuff when you aren't sure--like I tried to back up one of my families (should have done it before) and now simPe does't work right cause my configuration is changed. So Im trying to make a list of what ones I need to watch for the next updates on

Auntiejo, they can do so much in this one. The tots can now sing, stand while they play, they build relationships with each now too so the little tots can be best friends just from playing. The older kids can do sports (like football, soccer, basketball). They can teach the toddlers nursery rhymes. They dance. There is a neat new train set up and ant farm. There are also new things for the nursery, new bookcases/entertainment center, new games and instruments. Everything everyone does seems to be related to a hobby. The little tots now build mechanical skills on their own and they build skills from singing. Even stuff like they used to do like play with butterflies can start an interest in nature. There is a lot of new stuff for the adults too but the kids and toddlers do alot more. I can't wait until alot of the mods and stuff are updated as well asobjects. Cause you can teach your parents about parenting now so they can check on a baby and see what the baby needs but you have to have the new bookcase for them to learn about it. Once they learn their parenting skills a bubble will appear over the baby's head when they check on them and show like a bottle, bed and so on. Also now when someone reads they can choose a mystery, romance, and so on-something matches their interest. Raven, I was surprised at how many of my hacks/mods still work and I think now the majority are back in place but the ones related to the toddlers and inteen were my biggest losses for the moment. I couldn't wait lol. My family got it for me yesterday after a very difficult month at home so it was a great surprise. I have a contest going on another site that I should have waited on but couldn't resist. There is some really neat decorative stuff in this one too with posters, clutters and things to show your interest. some neat clothes too.

Pierre, can't wait to see your pictures from it. I've had a ball with it so far. I didn't know about the nursery rhymes part that parents, teens and children could teach the toddlers to sing nursery rhymes but it's so cute when the little ones sing. I had to take out alot of my mods/hacks though and that is taking some getting used to but I can still use insim with it with no problem but inteen was a no go cause it took away the ability for the toddlers to learn to sing. I still have to track down which one Im using that affects the babies too. When I first tried it, the parents can see what the baby needs like bed, bottle but I put in some ones to try and I lost that part so I will have to take some out again-lots of trial and error yet. Lol also people come in and out of the house when you develop a hobby even with the little kids--it was a bit strange seeing a grown man come to tell a toddler how good his interest in tinkering was lol. hope you have a lot of fun with it. I really think its going to be my favorite expansion pack. There are so many neat things in.

Fantastic pictures everyone! some of the best pictures are the unexpected ones Here's a few more of mine These are a couple of a dad who really seems to dislike his boys in the afterlife This one was a little wierd -I know the grown up sims get mad at other sims and have the flames around their thoughts but I never had a baby do that before-this was when her new little sister was being born in the next room
